You know what a calliper is because I've told you, an iron is a shorter version, below knee iron to give it it's English title. There are two types, single and double, the double has two bars one on each side of the leg. Singles can have the bar on the inside or outside, depending on what's wrong. Callipers go above the knee and are usually hinged, it's useful when you want to sit down, the length is variable and again depends on the individual's needs.
