This course provides the mathematical background needed for calculus. Concepts are presented and explored from algebraic, graphical, and numerical perspectives. Students are expected to participate actively in the development of all concepts. Basic concepts covered include numerical patterns, polynomial and rational functions, complex numbers, analytic geometry, systems of equations, statistics and probability, limits and continuity, and extensive coverage of trigonometry. This class requires more individual study time and an in-depth review of basic math concepts.
Pre-Calculus blends the concepts and skills that must be mastered before enrollment in a college-level course. The course includes the study of (1) relations and functions, (2) exponential and logarithmic functions, (3) Trigonometry in triangles, (4) trigonometric functions, (5) trigonometric identities and equations, (6) polar coordinates and complex numbers, (7) sequences and series, and (8) data analysis.
This class is a pre-requisite to AP Calculus.
Homework Reminders: |
Homework must be properly labeled and is due at the beginning of the period of the next meeting. NO LATE WORK will be accepted.
Homework will be checked for effort and completion. Sometimes it will be collected and graded, other times it is just checked in class, sometimes it may not be graded at all. You are expected to show your work on ALL problems. ANSWERS ALONE ARE UNACCEPTABLE.
If you are absent, you are still expected to complete the assignment(s) you missed.
