Shutting Down...
Part 2
-Angel Grove City Center
(The fog of smoke coming out of the ruins of the Computer Research
Facilities of Nasada has covered the sky over the city. People are in
panic, since they heard the news about the nuclear warheads crashing on
Earth's atmosphere, while Vinabot has sent hundreds of Skeletobots to
destroy the city from the inside.)
-Spaceship
(Vinabot is watching the havoc his soldiers create)
Vinabot: It looks like a dream! Finally, everything I wished for,
everything I always dreamt of is becoming reality. It's a matter of
time before the protection system is cracked and the codes are input.
Then the end for them will come.
(About a dousin of Skeletobots enter the control room holding
Snipegrand as prisoner)
Snpegrand: What is this all about? Why did your goons grab me and
dragged me here like I am a common prisoner?
Vinabot: Snipegrand, I've been waiting for this.
Snipegrand: What "this"?
Vinabot: When my spy told me that you were loyal to me, I couldn't
imagine that you had reprogrammed him to lie to me. As you see, I
corrected this problem.
(He points at a destroyed Skeletobot)
Snipegrand: What are you talking about?
Vinabot: Snipegrand, why are you lying to me? Is it because you are
afraid of me, or just because you still haven't completed your devious
plan?
Snipegrand: What plan?
(Vinabot goes close to him. He looks at him for a second and then
punches him on the face)
Vinabot: You really thought I wouldn't find out? I have loyal servants
on this ship!
(Snipegrand turns his eyes to Mechpart)
Snipegrand: You?!
Mechpart: Think of the future, Snipegrand. Remember?
(He turns to Vinabot again)
Snipegrand: You'll never make it!
Vinabot: I already have. Your "allies", the great Power Rangers are
dead.
Snipegrand: What?
Vinabot: No one can stop me now, Snipegrand. The Rangers couldn't and
you can't either. Just one question before I destroy you: Why? Why did
you betray me?
Snipegrand: How dare you asking me such thing? You still don't get it,
do you?
We were honoured soldiers. We had fought hundreds if not thousands of
battles. We were known among the galaxies. Our war has ended and we
were living a life of enjoying everything we earned through our
battles. Until you invaded our ship and the war began again. At first
it wasn't so bad. I had missed the action. But soon you turned out to
be an inter-galactic joke. Some kids that called themselves "Power
Rangers" beated you over and over again. And soon this entire ship
along with the entire crew became a joke. I have fought Rangers of
other galaxies and I can assure you that they were at least 100 times
more skillful warriors than those kids. I knew I could defeat them, but
I wasn't the captain; you were. On the other hand, what should I expect
from an Earthling?
Vinabot: That's enough! Were's the other disk, Snipegrand? Where is it?
Snipegrand: You said just one question, Vinabot. That's the second.
Vinabot: Enough!
(He fires with the cannon of his right arm. Snipegrand pulls on of the
Skeletobots in front of him, so the blast destroyes the Skeletobot and
not Snipegrand. Snipegrand sets himself free and destroyes the rest of
the Skeletobots. He turns to Vinabot)
Snipegrand: You think I'm afraid of you? I feel no fear "great"
Vinabot. Let's settle this for good. You and me. One on one.
Vinabot: Hehe... You don't want to fight me.
Snipegrand: Try me.
Vinabot: I shall have fun after all.
(He fires with the cannon. Snipegrand avoids as a sword appears in his
hand. He flips in the air and lands on his feet, slashing Vinabot. He
tries to slash him again, but Vinabot brakes the sword, grabs
Snipegrand from the neck and tosses him on a wall. He aims at him with
his cannon)
Vinabot: It was fun indeed.
Snipegrand: You are not getting away with this Vinabot. I guarantee
that.
(Vinabot blasts Snipegrand. Snipegrand screams and he is soon
extinguished)
Vinabot: Pathetic. Mechpart, report.
Mechpart: Your soldiers continue their work perfectly, boss. According
to news reports, this is the greatest crisis Angel Grove has gone
through since 1998. Police and army forces are powerless against us.
Vinabot: Any news on the Power Rangers?
Mechpart: News reports claim to believe that the Rangers will help them
Vinabot: Hope huh? Idiots. They think of their heroes as unbeatable.
They will soon find out that the Power Rangers can't help them, because
I, Vinabot, killed them! The codes?
Mechpart: We're still trying, but we must be close.
Vinabot: Good. Goodbye Earth.
-Angel Grove Pines forest, 22:00
(Six people are running to hide in the forest, obviously tired and
hurt, clothes torn. The six young people once named proudly themselves
as "Power Rangers Digital Force". Now they are wandering through the
forest, try to hide from their worst enemy and hopefully find a way to
survive.)
Maria: I don't know if I can hold out any longer.
Patricia: You have to Maria. We can make it.
Xenon: Here it is guys! Let's go!
(There is a huge gate on the ground. The Rangers sit there.)
Bobbie: The Zords' underground base.
Xenon: We're going to be safe here, at least from all those forest
animals. There's nothing else breathing for at least a kilometer. I
have of box of matches left into my pocket. Some fire would be nice.
Michael: I can't believe that the Hideout is gone, as well as the
Facilities.
Bobbie: We're lucky we're still alive.
Jack: Yes. If it wasn't for the emergency underground road, the blast
would have torn us apart literally.
Maria: But all these people in the Facilities...
Bobbie: I know, it's terrible. I wish we could have saved them. At
least we're here to fight for them.
Patricia: How? We don't have our powers anymore.
Bobbie: I know. Xenon?
Xenon: The programs are obviously gone with the computers. Without
them, there are no Digital Force.
Bobbie: Are you sure?
Xenon: Hey, you're a computer programmer. How can a program be loaded,
when it doesn't exist?
Bobbie: At least we have this laptop.
Jack: Yeah, thank God I grabbed it and protected it. We can at least
find out what's going on in the city.
(Patricia stands up and looks at the cloud)
Patricia: It's heading this way. We might need protection.
Jack: I don't think so. All warheads must have been destroyed by the
atmosphere. The cloud is now only slightly toxic. It can't hurt us.
Maria: But the citizens don't know this.
Bobbie: He must be using this as a diversion until he cracks the
protection system. How long do you think our scientists need to find
out?
Jack: They must already have. What's hard is to say it to the fleeing
people.
Maria: So, what now? What is left to be done?
Bobbie: Nothing. We have no Hideout, powers or anything to help us
against him.
Maria: So we're letting him win and destroy the planet?
Bobbie: Honestly Maria, I don't know. I wish I could do something but I
can't. We're helpless now.
Xenon: Guys, get some sleep, at least relax for a few minutes. God
knows what's ahaid of us.
Patricia: What about you?
Xenon: I'm fine, don't worry. Jack, can I have this laptop?
Jack: Yeah sure, but what for?
Xenon: Let's just say that I can't give up hope.
-Outside the Zords' Base, Angel Grrove pines forest-half an hour later.
(The Rangers except for Xenon are relaxing, almost sleeping. Xenon is
using the laptop computer.)
Xenon: What am I trying to do? It's almost hopeless. I can't...
(He notices something on the ground, covered with dust)
Xenon: What?
(He picks it up and clears the dust off it)
Xenon: A cd? Here? I wonder what's inside.
(He puts the cd into the laptop cd-rom)
Xenon: Let's see...: "Power Rangers, this is the warrior Snipegrand. I
hoped you would go and check this base before the attack started, so I
left this cd here. Under other circumstances, I would have left a bomb
instead, but I need you help in destroying Vinabot. Here's is what I
found out about him within the last few months..." I don't understand
why would Snipegrand want to destroy Vinabot. Let's see...Yada yada
yada... Here it is... Oh no... You must be kidding me. This is sick
even for Snipegrand. It can't be him.Vinabot can't be him... No!
(Patricia wakes up and approaches him)
Patricia: Xenon, are you alright? What happened?
Xenon: Vinabot... he is... I don't believe it.
Patricia: Believe what?
Xenon: I can't tell you. At least not before I tell my sister. Wait a
second... there's more. Finally good news!
(The others wake up as well)
Bobbie: What good news?
Xenon: Look. Someone who hated Vinabot as much as we do, sent us this
cd. It contains the new passwords for Vinabot's Spaceship. We have
access to his domain.
Michael: Great, but without our powers...
Xenon: We can't do anything, I know. Do me a favour guys. Go the city
and help as many people as you can. I'll meet you later.
Bobbie: Once again you're staying behind. What are you going to do?
Xenon: I have a plan. A plan that might save us. But I'll need some
time and I'll need you to help the people out there.
Maria: Come on Bobbie. Trust him.
Bobbie: I do. But this time, don't be late.
(They leave and head for the city.)
-Angel Grove City Center, 15 minuttes later.
(The people are still in panic. The Skeletobots are destroying
everything on their path. The rangers arrive)
Michael: Skeletobots.
Patricia: They're way too many to fight.
Bobbie: Patricia's right. Try to avoid encounter with them.
(They run to some kids with hurt legs. They are helping them to get up
and go away from the Skeletobots. Some Skeletobots are beating up a
man. Michael runs to his aid. He kicks the Skeletobots down and leaves
with the man.)
Bobbie: I said no encounter!
Michael: Sorry, but I couldn't resist.
(an army of Skeletobots goes close to them)
Jack: I think we should just give them Michael.
Michael: Don't you even think about it.
Jack: You're the one that attacked them!
Patricia: Will you both shut up? That's no joke.
Bobbie: Stay back guys.
(As the Skeletobots are ready to attack, they are all blasted down)
Bobbie: What?
(Xenon is standing opposite them, holding his blaster, still unmorphed)
Maria: Is that my brave brother, or what?
Michael: That's actually your shower brother. He's always staying
behind to come and rescue us when we are in need.
Bobbie: How did you activate the blaster?
Xenon: Take those guys. I think they are yours.
(He hands them over their morphers and chips.)
Patricia: Our morphers?
Xenon: They are fully functional again.
Jack: I don't understand.
Xenon: I kept a backup file of our morphing and weapons program. When
the chained explosions began, I transfered the backup file to another
computer. Unfortunately I didn't have time to choose this other
computer, so it took me a while to find it and recover it. Now, we can
finally make Vinabot pay for all the crimes he commited now and in the
long past.
Maria: Long past?
Xenon: You'll understand soon enough.
Bobbie: How are we going to get to the ship? We have the passwords but
how are we going to be transfered there?
Xenon: As satelite signals. It's the only way. All we need is a big
satelite plate.
Jack: We had one in the facilities. It was in the back side. It must be
working properly.
Bobbie: Let's go.
-Spaceship, 20 minutes later.
Vinabot: How's the cracking going?
Mechpart: Only a few passwords left to try. It's a matter of minutes
before we can enter the codes and activate the rockets.
Vinabot: Great.
(Suddenly the alarm goes off)
Vinabot: What? Intruders? Skeletobots, go and check the area.
(The Skeletobots leave. The Rangers are standing in front of the exit.)
Michael: I'm not doing this again.
Patricia: It was worst than... everything!
Jack: Guys look!
Bobbie: Skeletobots.
Xenon: Your orders?
Bobbie: Just one. Destroy them all!
All Rangers: Yeah!
(They start beating up the Skeletobots. The Rangers fight like never
before, intensly, with so much energy and will for victory that the
Skeletobots look like amateur warrior kids. More and more Skeletobots
run against them but they are soon destroyed. The fight ends with the
floor full of Skeletobot parts. Inside the control room Mechpart is
still trying to crack the security system)
Mechpart: Boss, there are no more Skeletobot units on the ship. They've
all been destroyed!
Vinabot: What? But who...?
(The door opens and the Rangers storm in)
Bobbie: We!
Vinabot: That's impossible! You can't be here! I killed you! I saw you
dying!
Michael: Don't be such a liar! You just saw the Facilities destroyed,
you never saw us dead.
Vinabot: Mechpart, continue your work. I'll take care of these kids
once and for all.
Xenon: Just what I've been waiting for.
Vinabot: Goodbye Rangers.
Bobbie: This might be our last battle. We might die, but we're not
failing! Ready guys?
Maria, Patricia, Xenon, Jack, Michael: Ready!
All Rangers: DIGITALIZE!
Five Rangers: DOWNLOAD DIGITAL FORCE, POWER RANGERS!
Xenon: Connect to Server IP: NET!
(The Rangers morph)
Bobbie: This is a fight to the end. Attack!
(Bobbie performs a scissors kick but misses. At the same time Michael
punches Vinabot's back. Maria stomach punches him and Patricia tries to
kick him on the face, but she misses. Jack side kicks him and Xenon
punches him on the back of his head. Vinabot grabs Maria from the neck
and tosses her on Patricia. He kicks Jack and sends him flying on the
girls. Michael tries to grab him from the back, but Vinabot grabs
Michael's arms and throws him on the girls and Jack. Bobbie and Xenon
perform a side kick each but Vinabot blocks both of them and throws
them on the others. He aims at them with his cannon)
Vinabot: It's over Rangers!
(He fires but the Rangers jump in the air and dodge.)
Xenon: You get Vinabot. I'll stop Mechpart.
(Bobbie fires with his blaster at Vinabot. Patricia and Maria kick him,
while Jack and Michael punch him on the face. At the same time Xenon
runs to Mechpart)
Xenon: It's over Mechpart! Step away from the console!
Mechpart: You have to be kidding Net Ranger! In a few seconds all codes
will be input.
Xenon: Not if I can stop it!
(He aims with his blaster but he is blasted by Vinabot)
Vinabot: You will never stop me Ranger!
Computer: All codes accepted. Launching sequence initiated.
Vinabot: That's it!
Jack: Damn! They did it.
Bobbie: We have to cancel the program.
Michael: How?
Xenon: The program must be running from the Spaceship's computers. We
have to destroy these computers.
Vinabot: Smart indeed. However I'm smarter. Rangers, did you really
think that I would risk running the program from a couple of computers?
The mainframe on Earth is connected with all of this Ship's computers.
Destroying the ones in this room will do no good. The only way to stop
it is to destroy the entire ship with one shot!
Patricia: Can we do this?
Xenon: With our weapons? Never.
Vinabot: It's over Rangers. You will witness the destruction of your
own planet and then join it to the way to oblivion!
Maria: Can we do anything?
Bobbie: Guys, would give up everything to save our planet?
Xenon: What do you mean?
Bobbie: Would you die to stop the nuclear war? Would you sacrifise your
lives to save the Earth?
Patricia: It wouldn't be the first time.
Maria: If we are to die tonight, to save our Earth, I think we are all
fine with it.
Michael: I don't know what you have in mind to do, but do it fast.
Jack: We will keep Vinabot busy.
Xenon: Need help?
Bobbie: Definitely. Come.
Jack: Vinabot! This is not over yet!
(Jack, Maria, Patricia and Michael fire at Vinabot and Mechpart,
causing them to kneel. At the same time Bobbie and Xenon run out of the
room. They run to the launcher.)
Bobbie: I saw it in our way in, earlier.
Xenon: The rocket launcher Vinabot used to fire those warheads to
Earth.
Bobbie: There's still one left. You think it can destroy the ship with
one shot?
Xenon: And us as well.
Bobbie: I wish I had a better plan.
Xenon: Don't apologise to anyone about this. It's the only way.
(The other Rangers join them)
Jack: We have to hurry. All silos gates are open. It is a matter of
seconds before the launch starts.
Patricia: Is that a warhead?
(Bobbie nods)
Maria: You are going to destroy the ship with the nuclear warhead,
aren't you?
Bobbie: It's the only thing I can do.
(They stay silent for a second, knowing that such action will most
likely cost them their lives)
Michael: Alright, let's do it before it's too late.
Bobbie: Aim.
(The Rangers aim at the warhead with their blasters. Suddenly Vinabot
and Mechpart run to them, yelling)
Vinabot: No! Don't do this!
Bobbie: FIRE!
(The Rangers fire at the warhead. There's a massive explosion. The
spaceship is totally torn into pieces. No lifeform can be seen. The
people on the planet watch the light in the sky. All the Skeletobots,
are automatically deactivated, since their power source does no longer
exist. For a minute, everyone and everything is quite. Others look at
the sky smiling and relieved, feeling they have escaped the terrible
fate. Others are confused and sad, like they can feel the loss of their
heroes. Government agents and scientists watch the launch sequence
stopping and all silos gates closing. Nobody understands, but everybody
is relieved. And in Angel Grove City, in a dark alley there are six
people, once the Power Rangers, still morphed, but with cracked
helmets, lying on the street... dead. Or maybe not? One of them is
moving. He can barely raise his head, but he's still alive)
Xenon: Huh... Maria... Patricia... Anyone alive?
Maria: Barely alive.
Patricia: I think I still breath.
Bobbie: Me too.
Jack: Shouldn't we be dead?
Michael: Yes, what happened?
Xenon: Our powers protected us from the blast and this piece of the
spaceship helped us enter the atmosphere without burning.
Bobbie: So everything is fine?
Xenon: I wish I knew. We weren't instantly killed, but we might have
been infected with radio-energy. Can everyone stand on their feet?
Bobbie: I think so...
(Suddenly a man wearing armor, without helmet, his face almost
destroyed, like it's not human, stands in front of them)
Vinabot: You destroyed everything!
Jack: Vinabot?
Vinabot: I will destroy you!
(Xenon grabs his legs and throws him on the ground. Vinabot is so weak
that he can't move. The Rangers stand above him)
Xenon: You're pathetic Bonsam.
Maria: What?
Vinabot: You know...?
Xenon: Thanks to one of your old servants. I should have figured. Karl
Vinack... Vinabot. That's why your body was never found.
Vinabot: They sabotaged the experiment that day Xenon. They destroyed
my body. I used the same technology you had in this computer to create
this armor, so that I could live. But I couldn't feel anything. I
couldn't touch anything. I wasn't human anymore. They had to pay. I
thought you were dead, but you obviously weren't. You should have
joined me Xenon. If they haven't sabotaged the experiment, I would have
taken you out of this computer. You should hate them as much as I do.
Xenon: I'm grateful to them. If they haven't sabotaged the experiment,
I would have become like you.
(Maria aims at Vinabot's head)
Xenon: Maria what are you doing?
Maria: I'm paying him back. You killed my father and took my brother
away when I was only five. You think your life was hell? Then you have
no idea what hell looks like. Growing in a foreign country, with an ill
mother, having to study and work since I was eight. You deserve this.
Bobbie: Maria, don't do it.
Maria: Why not? It's time for a payback.
Xenon: Please, don't do it!
Maria: You should hate him as much as I do, Xenon.
Xenon: I do. But this will do no good. He will face justice. The
justice he ran away from years ago. But if you kill him in cold blood,
you will end up like him.
Maria: He deserves this.
Xenon: Yes, he deserves this. But you don't deserve to be in prison for
the rest of your life. Please. Don't do it. Dad wouldn't want to see
his daughter like this.
(Maria stays silent for a second. Then the blaster falls from her
hands, she starts crying and collapses in the arms of her brother,
while police sirens can be heard in the backround)
-Angel Grove National Lake, next mmorning.
(Bobbie is sitting alone, throwing small rocks in the lake. Xenon shows
up)
Xenon: Good morning.
Bobbie: 'morning.
(Xenon sits next to him)
Xenon: Did you sleep well?
Bobbie: Not really. I was thinking.
Xenon: Yeah, me too. It's really over huh? Vinabot is in jail and we
are free to live our lives.
Bobbie: Which might not be that long... So, how much time do we have?
Xenon: I don't know. A couple of years, maybe more.
Bobbie: That long huh?
Xenon: We were in the middle of a nuclear explosion. If it wasn't for
our powers, we wouldn't even be here right now. You know, it doesn't
matter how much time is left, as long as we spent it in the way we
want. There are so many things to do, things that we never have time to
do. Until one day we realise that time is never enough and we regret
that we didn't know that earlier.
Bobbie: I guess you're right. What will you do?
Xenon: I don't know yet. I'm thinking of returning to Greece. As far as
I remember, it was beautiful. And I'd like to go to my grandfather's
old cottage, if it's still there. I liked it there when I was a kid.
(The others walk to them)
Bobbie: Good. Besides things can't be that bad.
(Xenon looks at Patricia)
Xenon: No, they aren't.
Bobbie: How are things going between the two of you?
Xenon: She says that we should stay friends. But you know something? I
think she's lying.
Bobbie: Why would she?
Xenon: She's probably afraid of me. Probably she thinks I'm immature.
She'll understand soon enough that she is more than a friend to me. A
lot more.
Jack: Hey guys! What are you doing here?
Bobbie: We're just watching this lake.
Patricia: You're watching the lake? You need a life!
Michael: Yes, come on! We have no work for obvious reasons, it's a
beautiful day and we might find some place to eat in the other side of
the city.
Maria: Eat? It's still 10am!
Michael: So what? I deserve a good lunch!
Maria: Lunch is for noon.
Michael: Whatever.
Patricia: So will you stay here for the rest of you life?
Xenon: No, we won't.
(They stand up. Bobbie is holding hands with Maria, Xenon smiles to
Patricia and she smiles back. They all walk down the road)
Jack: So, were are we going?
Michael: Amusement park?
Patricia: Michael!
Michael: What?
Bobbie: Oh boy! We're going to live a long happy
Xenon: ...common, NORMAL life!
Maria: Together.
All Rangers: Together.
