Shutting Down...
Part 1
-ABC Cinema, Angel Grove Center, 222:15
(Bobbie and Maria exit the Cinema building, holding hands)
Maria: That was pretty cool, wasn't it?
(Bobbie doesn't reply)
Maria: This effects and the screenplay. Well, the end was a little pathetic though.
(Bobbie doesn't reply again)
Maria: Bobbie, are you listening to me? Bobbie!
Bobbie: What?
Maria: Were you listening to me all this time?
Bobbie: Yes. Well, no. I'm sorry, I was kind of distracted.
Maria: I noticed that. What is it?
Bobbie: It's the future that I'm concerned about. You heard Xenon. Vinabot is going to play his final card. And without the Zords we might not be able to make it this time. You know, I'm nearly impressed that you're acting like you don't care about it.
(She sits Bobbie and stands in front of him, holding his neck her hands and fondling his cheeks with her thumbs)
Maria: Of course I care. But all my life isn't my Ranger duties and Vinabot. There's work, friends and most important of all, you. I can't be worried about the future. Yes, I'm scared when I'm thinking that Vinabot will attack now, that the Zords are destroyed but I can't stop living because of that. I'm still too young and I assure you that I do not intend to die soon. So right now, I don't care about Vinabot. Right now all it matters is that I'm with you and I'm having some fun, for a change.
Bobbie: I wish it were that simple. I should have stayed with the RAR. Maybe I could have...
Maria: Killed yourself? Yes, definitely! Please, Bobbie. Don't do this to yourself and us. Last week we saved the world.
Bobbie: But at what cost?
Maria: No cost. All citizens are safe, the Virus is gone for good, our friends are fine, you are alive and I'm alive. Our job is to save the world and that's exactly what we did. Stop regreting your choice to let my brother save you butt. Come on, after all this lecture can't I at least have a smile? See you enjoying this moment?
(He smiles)
Maria: Here you go! You're getting very good at this, keep doing it.
Bobbie: You see, that's why I love you.
Maria: What did you say?
(Bobbie gets frightened)
Bobbie: Nothing.
Maria: No, you said you love me.
Bobbie: I didn't!
Maria: Oh yes, you did!
Bobbie: I think it's time to go.
(He stands up and leaves. Maria follows him)
Maria: Bobbie, get back here.
Bobbie: I'm sorry, we got work tomorrow.
Maria: Bobbie! You're such a kid right now!
-Hideout
(The other Rangers are sitting on around a round table)
Xenon: All present?
Jack: Except for Bobbie and Maria.
Xenon: Oh. And were are our precious leader and my adorable sister?
Michael: Out. They had a date.
Xenon: We had a meeting. A very important meeting. They shouldn't...
Patricia: Bobbie needed this very much. He's been like crap since our last battle.
Xenon: I guess you're right. So, let's get this over with. I'm starved.
Jack: So, what is the situation?
Patricia: All zords are down.
Xenon: Any chance we can bring them back?
Patricia: The program is still fine but it can be used unless we can reconstruct the Zords' bodies. But it will take time.
Xenon: How much?
Patricia: Aproximately one month.
Michael: Month?
Jack: Crap. What about the other programs?
Xenon: Exept for the Firewall armor program, the rest are fully functional. You do realize that Vinabot won't wait for us to complete our repairs.
(The alarm goes off)
Xenon: Speaking of the devil...
(They run to the computers)
Michael: What's going on?
Xenon: Skeletobots attack.
Jack: Where?
Xenon: Nevada Nuclear Storage building.
Patricia: Nevada? We're never going to make it in time.
Xenon: We'll have to teleport. I know it will drain some of my energy, but it's our only chance. Call Bobbie and Maria.
-A dark alley, Angel Grove City
(Bobbie's beeper goes off)
Maria: What is it now?
Bobbie: Let's find out.
(They find a phone and pick it up. They dial the number of the Hideout)
Bobbie: Bobbie here. What's the matter?
Xenon: (from the phone) Skeletobots attack in Nevada. We are teleporting there. Insert your chips in the slots on the phone device and I will teleport you.
(Bobbie and Maria do as Xenon told them and they are teleported via the phone lines)
-Nuclear Storage Building, Nevada Desert.
(The Rangers are teleported there, morphed)
Xenon: Here they are!
Bobbie: Rangers, we still don't know what they want from this place, but remember that they store nuclear warheads in here. No matter what, do not use weapons. Now, let's finish them.
(They run to the Skeletobots and fight them. At the same time, another group of Skeletobots exits the building, driving a truck full of nuclear warheads. Michael notices them)
Michael: No! Come back!
(He runs to the truck, which is apparently faster)
Jack: Michael!
(The truck teleports with all the Skeletobots. The other Rangers run to Michael.)
Bobbie: What happened Michael?
Michael: The Skeletobots. They took nuclear warheads.
Patricia: Why would Vinabot want the warheads? Even if he used them, they are not enough to destroy the entire planet.
Xenon: It's strange indeed. We better get back to the Hideout.
-Spaceship
Mechpart: I'm sorry boss, but we don't have anymore energy to power a new robot.
Vinabot: I know that. That's why I want the warheads.
Mechpart: Of course! They will provide us with enough power to...
Vinabot: Do not dare to touch those warheads. That's not what I need them for. All I want from you is to build a powerful rocket launcher and complete my army of Skeletobots.
Mechpart: As you command.
(Mechpart leaves)
Vinabot: Finally. This miserable planet will pay for the destruction of my life.
-Snipegrand's Chamber, Spaceship.<
(Mechpart enters the chamber)
Mechpart: Snipegrand, could you...
(He notices that Snipegrand is copying some data on a disk. He sneaks behind a column and watches)
Snipegrand: That's it. I have exactly what I need in this disk. This arrogant fool will have to start the countdown to his destruction. The end of his misery. Even I'm not powerful enough to do it, I know some others that are. Here, let's have a backup disk. Just in case.
(He completes the copy of the data and shuts down his computer. He places one disk on a desk and takes the other with him. He leaves the chamber.)
Mechpart: Vinabot was right. Snipegrand wants to destroy him. I have to warn him. It is my chance, the only chance to command this ship, after Vinabot!
(He leaves)
-Hideout
Bobbie: Jack, did you find anything?
Jack: No. Police reports report nothing more than what we already know. Five nuclear warheads stolen. I'll try to hack into the official archives of the storage building.
Bobbie: Good idea.
Xenon: He attacked sooner than I expected.
Patricia: But he didn't use a robot.
Xenon: I think he doesn't have energy to power one. He could use the warheads to provide energy to his creation, but I don't think he planed such an obvious attack just for energy.
Jack: Gotcha!
Bobbie: What is it?
Jack: You won't believe what I found. The nuclear warheads are not the only ones missing from this wearhouse.
Bobbie: What do you mean?
Jack: Apparently the government also hid there a disk which contained top secret data. The disk was also stolen.
Michael: Why wasn't it reported?
Jack: Because of its content. The data in the disk are codes, passwords to activate nuclear rocket launchers. If it was reported, the world would be at least in panic.
Xenon: Wait a second. You're saying that now Vinabot has access to all nuclear weapons?
Jack: Pretty much.
Xenon: Oh no. The stolen warheads were just a diversion.
Bobbie: He's not going to fire nuclear against the planet. He's going to launch a nuclear attack from inside the planet.
Jack: He's got enough codes to power a full scale assault that will instantly destroy the Earth.
Maria: My god... That's beyond imagination. Can we stop him?
Xenon: Without the megazords? Nearly impossible. I don't know if our powers can protect us from nukes.
Patricia: But shouldn't they change the codes since the old ones have been stolen?
Jack: I'm afraid not. They can't access the program. Vinabot also took away the access codes. You see, all programs must be accessed through other passwords. Security crap.
Michael: Tell me I didn't vote for them!
Jack: Wait. We might stand a chance.
Bobbie: Go ahaid.
Jack: Vinabot's got the passwords but he can't input them so easily. The program is protected by some kind of high AI protection system.
Xenon: Of course! How could I forget? Zordon, the mentor of the first Angel Grove Rangers created a program to keep the planet safe from nuclear terror.
Bobbie: That's great! Can the system stop Vinabot?
Xenon: It's pretty good actually. However, Vinabot is a genius. He could make a fortune out of hacking. Plus he's got advanced technology. He can crack the protection codes, but he can't do it from his ship. He's out of range. He must use computers connected with the system.
Bobbie: In that case he will at least send someone to plot a connection for him. We'll be waiting for him. Let's go!
Xenon: I'll join you guys later. I have something important to do.
Bobbie: Don't be late. We'll need your help. Let's go!
(They leave. Xenon takes a seat and starts looking archives into of the computers)
Xenon: Someone e-mailed me a couple of days ago, mentioning something about A.B.A. and Bonsam. I hoped that this whole thing belonged to my past and I would rather leave it this way. But the e-mail looked important. I have to check.
-Nuclear Storage Building, Nevada Desert.
(The Rangers are hiding in different places, circling the building. They communicate via their Chips)
Bobbie: If they hid the data here, they must also hide the mainframe computer.
Patricia: Are you sure they'll show up?
Bobbie: It's the only way he can input the codes. All we have to do is stop his goons from ploting the connection with the Spaceship. After that, we connect the Spaceship with an infected by a virus computer and send the virus to the ship.
Michael: Sorry to intrude, but here they are.
(Skeletobots enter the scene holding equipment. They reach the building)
Bobbie: Go!
(The Rangers storm out of their hiding places. They aim at the Skeletobots with their blasters)
Bobbie: Hold it right there!
Michael: Don't move or you'll be trashed.
(The Skeletobots fire at the Rangers and run to the building)
Bobbie: Crap! Don't fire back Rangers! Let's go get them.
(They start fighting. Michael roundhouses in the face two Skeletobots and punches two more. He is however busted by four others. The girls team up and fight the Skeletobots. Soon they are immobilized by 6 Skeletobots. Bobbie and Jack run to the ones that are about to set up the connection.)
Bobbie: It's over! Give it up!
(One of the Skeletobots nodes and a dousin starts attacking to the 2 Rangers while this one sets up the connection. Bobbie side-kicks a Skeletobot which flips and crashes on 2 others. Jack blocks the punch of two and double-kicks them, causing them to fall on the ground. Bobbie roundhouses another one that flips and ends up in Jacks arms. Jack throws it on the rest.)
Bobbie: Easy fight.
Jack: Yeah, I didn't even sweat.
(From out of nowhere more Skeletobots appear and immobilize the two Rangers.)
Bobbie: Hey! Let me go!
Jack: Get of me! Bobbie, he's finishing the connection!
Bobbie: Damn! Where the hell is Xenon?
(The Skeletobot completes the installation of the connection equipment. It switches it on and then teleports away, along with all other Skeletobots)
Bobbie: I don't believe we've been beaten by those things!
Jack: We were outnumbered. Any chance we can switch this thing off?
Bobbie: No way. Vinabot isn't stupid. He has most likely set up a defence system. All we can do is get back to the Hideout. Let's go.
-Spaceship
Vinabot: Yes! The connection has been set up and the Rangers couldn't stop me. Now it's all just a matter of time. As soon as I input those passwords, all nuclear silos will be opened, all defence systems based in nuclear weaponry will be activated and all nuclear rockets will be launched and strike. The planet won't be destroyed in an instant huge blast as I have expected, but at least I will enjoy watching the Earth dying slowly, in pain. Only one thing left to be done. Mechpart, is the launcher complete?
Mechpart: Not yet, boss.
Vinabot: Not yet? Sometimes I want to rip open your empty tin head! Anyway, what about the other plan?
Mechpart: Everything is ready sir! The time's running out. In a few minutes, the Rangers will be no more!
Vinabot: Excellent. Finish this launcher.
-Hideout
(Xenon is still searching those archives when the five Rangers storm in, unmorphed, obviously annoyed. Xenon instantly closes the archives window)
Xenon: What... What happened to you guys?
Patricia: What do you think that happened? We got our butts busted by a bunch of Skeletobots!
Bobbie: What the hell were you doing here Xenon? We tried to conntact you but the conntact line was occupied. What were you doing?
Xenon: I..
Bobbie: Damn you! Never mind, what's important now is that the connection with the Spaceship has been set up and we have to stop it.
(He presses some buttons. The image of the storage building appears on the monitor)
Xenon: What are you doing?
Bobbie: I think we can hack into the system and change the codes.
Patricia: Why didn't we do that in the first place?
Bobbie: Do what? Hack into a top secret government secret?? Besides I don't know if we can really do it. But thanks to someone that is our last hope.
(Suddenly they hear a loud bang and the ground's shaking)
Maria: Did you feel that?
( More bangs and more shaking)
Michael: What's happening?
Jack: It's a prosedure of chained explosions that started from the upper level and end up down here!
Bobbie: We have to evacuate!
(The computers start exploding one after another, all electronics are down)
Bobbie: Let's get the hell out of here, before's too late!
(They run to the holographic wall and realise that the exit is blocked)
Maria: We're trapped in here!
Michael: We're gone!
Bobbie: Hold on guys!
(External view of the Facilities- They are gone in a huge blast. The explosion destroyes the Facilties and the Hideout. The big cloud of smoke as well as the loud bang make the citizens of Angel Grove wonder what happened)
-Spaceship
Vinabot: Yes! Finally! Those cursed Power Rangers are gone forever! Now, to finish this miserable planet... Mechpart, my launcher!
Mechpart: All set boss.
Vinabot: Great. Load the nuclear warheads!
(The launcher aims at the Earth. It is loaded with the nuclear warheads stolen from the storage building)
Vinabot: My dream is finally coming true... FIRE!
(A warhead is fired. The warhead is destroyed by Earth's atmosphere but nuclear energy enters the planet. It instantly kills the few people witnessing the insident, while the rest of the energy, weakend, spreads to California desert and Angel Grove)
Vinabot: Finally! I made it. This small amounts of energy won't even affect the Earthlings, but they will be a great diversion until I input the codes to activate the nuclear rockets. With the Rangers out of scene, this is my dream becoming reality. Good bye Earth!
(He fires the other warhead as well. The citizens run in panic watching the huge cloud coming close to them, while the Facilities are still in flames.)
