hmmm...what do I say I have many. First and foremost, I am a Christian so my main interest in life is getting to know my great God and Father and the only begotten God, Jesus Christ. As such, I am heavily immersed in theology, particularly of the Reformed or Calvinist tradition. I say that unapologetically as well since I am convinced of its TRUTH by the Word of God, so "here I stand" as Martin Luther, the great Reformer once said. My goal in life is to one day attain a Master in Divinity followed by a Masters in Theology and then a PhD. in Apologetics and I would like to have a teaching ministry either through a local church or a university setting. Within this interest, I already enjoy reading plenty of books as I have about 600 in my personal library. I also enjoy writing on theology topics as well. I am currently engaged in personal studies on Roman Catholicism, Mormonism and various other theological topics. I hope to one day turn what I have written so far into a few books for the glory of God. I also enjoy debating theology (apologetics). By "debate" I do not mean "bashing" or "ripping" someone's beliefs to shreds. Rather, I mean a rational conversation concerning the truth of doctrine that proceeds in a logical basis and without personally attacking each other. I like to think of this kind of debating as "informative" being that my goal in doing so is more to impart information to the hearers. I'm very involved in my Church and am proud to be of the Presbyterian heritage (PCA).
Secondly, what tends to define me is my martial arts hobby. I have been doing martial arts for about 6 years now. The styles that I have studied include Tai Chi, Hung Gar, White Eyebrow (Pak Mei), Hsing - I , Choy Lay Fut, Tae Kwon Do, and some grappling. However, I found my true martial art in the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu. I have been studying this art since Aug. 17, 2002 and am currently under the instruction of Sifu Tony Massengill, a disciple of both of Ip Man's sons, Ip Chun and Ip Ching. Most people have never heard of Wing Chun, but if anybody has heard of Bruce Lee, it would interest them to know that Wing Chun was Bruce Lee's first art for 5 year before moving to America and Bruce himself credits the basis of his own art, Jeet Kune Do, to Wing Chun. This training is so much fun because it involves a "contact reflex training" called Chi Sao. Chi Sao is, essentially, the sparring method of Wing Chun. It looks rather funny in pictures but in motion it is amazing and it teaches one the skill of Wing Chun and how to control an opponent through sensitivity training.
