Unified Tool - Post Processing

Post processing is currently available for the Circumferential dovetail disk analysis and is executed by using the CIRCUMPP button on toolbar.  The tool can run the post-processing macros from the tool installed directory or copy them to the working directory and run them (this option is significantly faster if the tool is installed on a network drive). Several post processing options are available, and these are controlled by editing the file ppoptions.inp (POSTOPTS button on toolbar).   Each option is enabled by setting the flag to 1 or disabled by setting it to zero.  The post processing options are described in the table below.

Important Note:  The database should be resumed in ANSYS and the result set should be loaded before the post processing option is executed.

Option Flag Description
Generate Model Summary MINFO This option writes a summary of the input data for the current run to the file "ut_modelSummary.out"  This includes user inputs such as RPM, blade weight, etc.,   Click here to see a sample summary file.
NOTE : The geometric model dimensions are not supported in the current release.
Nodal Stress Post Processing STRESS This option calculates Kt's and Peaking Factors based on nodal stresses and reports them along with peak and average stresses for the Load and Lock slots and dovetail fillet.  The resulting output file is called "ut_avgStressKtPf.out" (click here to view a sample).
2D Analysis RESUL2D This option generates a 2D model of the disk using the geometry at the far sector face.  This model is then solved, and the average hoop and dovetail fillet stresses are included in the 3D summary file discussed above.
Bolt Hole Post Processing BOLTHOLE This option enables bolt hole post processing.  The results are written to "ut_boltStresses.out" (click here to view a sample file).
Displacement Contour Plots DPLOT Generate displacement contour plots.
Stress Contour Plots SPLOT This option generates a series of contour plots showing key stresses in the load and lock slots, dovetail fillets, etc.
Boundary Condition Plots BCPLOT Generates plots showing the applied boundary conditions
Thermal Kts and Pfs THERMAL Generates thermal Kts and Pfs based on the temperature difference if the model has non uniform temperature distribution.
Load slot edge stress LSEDGE Extracts the stresses on the nodes of the load slot bottom edge. The output will be available in "ut_loadSlotBottomEdgeStress.out".(click here for a sample)
Thermal Post Processing TEMP Enables thermal post processing.  This calculates thermal "Kt's" based on temperature differences in the load and lock slot vs. the average temperature in the rest of the disk.
Crack Propagation CRACK Extracts and reports stresses along a vector that points into the disk (normal to the first principal stress plane(S1-S2 plane) at the location of Max Effective  stress (S,eqv) node.  The results are reported in the file "ut_stressGradients _'$component name'.out" where "component name" is the name of the component based on which the stresses are extracted. (click here for a sample).  By default the tool will provide the gradients for load slots, lock slots and dovetail fillets.
Surface stress extraction SURFACESTR  This option extracts the Kts and Pfs based on the surface stresses. The output will be available in the three summary files "ut_surfaceStressKtPf.out", "ut_surfaceLastBladePitch.out", "ut_dtFilletSurfaceStresses.out". (click  1  2 , 3  for sample output).
