Temperature Table

Codes 14.0, 15.0 or 19.0 define the temperature distribution of the beams for evaluation of material properties. It has got the following categories:

Selects the temperature table as an active table. The subsequently assigned/picked temperature values and axial locations will belong to the active table. To change to the other table number the user needs to change the active table number using the same GUI option.

Lets say the user picks Table1 as an active table then, the main temperature GUI will display the highlighted label as "Active table: Table1" in place of the text "No active table are defined".



Lets say the user defines active table as Table1 and assigns some axial coordinates and temperature values at those coordinates, then the user picks Table2 as an active table and defines the temperatures data, then the user picks Table3 and defines the temperatures data. During the selection of active tables the user has actually defined 3 tables viz. Table1 Table2 Table3. The list which contains these tables is called as Defined temperature table list.

Allows the user to pick the locations manually over the ANSYS work plane. All the picked loaction for a selected active table will be part of the definition of temperatures for that table. To see the description on how to view the picked loaction values please refer to the next section "Add/edit values".

Select the option Add/edit values and click Next-> button. This brings up the GUI with the list of Defined temperature table list . Double-click to select the table number inside this GUI and press Next->. Now another window will pop-up as shown above (right most). This will have the information about the x-locations and the temperature values associated with the same coordiantes. Remember, in the previous section, the user picked some loactions graphically and assigned some temperature values to those locations. All that data, if picked for Table1, will be shown up in this GUI.

The GUI has two main functions viz. "Add record" and "Delete record". Clicking on "Add record" will add more rows of edit boxes for x-location and temperature values and user can define some more locations and temperature for this table number as shown in the image below. A maximum of 30 temperature records can be defined per table. Clicking on the "Delete record" will delete the particular row. The top-most row can't be deleted.

The code used is code 15.0. The user can assign any of the tables under Defined temperature table list to the active beam number.
In the example shown above the active beam is Beam3 and the only table defined is Table1. So by pressing "Ok" in the GUI the "Table1" gets applied to "Beam3". "Cancel" will ignore it.

This will specify the input code 19.0. It specifies the constant temperatures for a conical beam segment or a beam which will override temperatures specified by code 15.0.

Following is the warning message gets poped up with this option.

    


Following is the screen dump from roda input file for the case where Beam1,2 and 3 are defined. Temperature table Table1 is defined. Table1 applies to Beam2 and Beam3 is assigned a uniform temperature value equal to 20.0. Beam1 hasn't been assigned any temperatures.
