Mr Editor,

The Bangalore Traffic Police are very innovative. We all know about their antics marking roads "one-way" some days... and marking them one-way from opposite direction on other days. But when they introduced timers at signals, it was unanimously applauded - Something of a rarity for the city's police.

But off late I have seen some timers that say "April Fool" every time they run. To name a few, the one at Navarang Circle counts erroneously and turns green even when there are a twenty odd seconds yet to be counted down. The one at Junction of MG road and Kasturba road, reaches 0 full 10 seconds before the signal actually turns green (strangely it happens only early in the morning :-) ). The one at GPO circle (counter to say how many more seconds will the green signal remain green) will still be counting when the signal has gone yellow to red.

I request the concerned people to either remove the timers or correct them so that it does not cause harm by confusing the drivers.

There are also instances that signals change their pattern during nights. Considering that the traffic density is less during night, it is really appriciated to change the cycles... But irony is that in some cases, it gives more time for pedestrians to cross the road at night when there are no pedestrians. Are we seeing traits of Tughlaq in out administrators ??

Thanks
Prashanth Kota
