Obstacles in path of true inclusion

1) Disability is an outcome of obstacles that society imposes.
2) Elevator buttons with Braille and ramps for wheelchairs certainly make a difference. But when it comes to people with disabilities, meaningful inclusion can only be achieved through determined public policy and transformation of attitude.
3) Mr. Michael Bach Canada. expert on public policy and disability says there are still innumerable obstacles in path of true inclusion
4) There is big emphasis world over on disabilities as individual problem. Gradually people with disabilities and their families began to challenge the negative stereotype
5) The very term 'obstacle' indicated that the disability is not a matter of individual problems, it is an out come of the obstacles society imposes, people are disabled because they have to function in a society based on norms, which excludes them.
6) People with disabilities have been unable to penetrate the labour market beyond a point.
7) Find a clauses like in the disability, 'To the extent possible' because when it comes to the people with disabilities, we still have not made full commitment. Human rights have provided a vision, but to implement this view, we need effective public policy.
8) People with disability are the subject of prejudice.
9) Disable do fear taunting, labeling by others, lack of technology for disables. 2001 Census for disables is a welcome step and final census figure will be hardcore to keep disables invisible. Nos. are big and growing
10) Disables rights are proactively implemented at present. We still leave it to individuals to fight their way into mainstream forgetting obligations. But it is time for all of us, Government and it's agencies, organizations etc. to recognize that this is a collective commitment.
