In the 18th centuary a plauge of vamparism brought hysteria to austrian empire.  In 1813, Lord Byron induced a epidemic of vampire novels in english romantic litriture. In 1887, Bram Stoker published his epistolary novel 'Dracula' which inspired two classic pieces of early cinema, 'Nosferatu: eine Symphonie des Grauens' (1922) and 'Dracula' (1931).

Actor, Max Schreck and expressionist director, FW Munaru colabrate to coin the grotesque, rat-life 'Count Orlock' style of vampire in Nosferatu 1922. Nosferatu, roughly translated from slavic languages to mean 'plauge carrier' or 'inssuferable one', is narated in the film bringing desise to the german city of Breman. Nine years later director Tod Browning invited Bela Lugosi to bring his vision of 'Count Dracula' to the screen. The 1931 script depicted a vampire true to 19th centuary english litriture as a refined aristocrate stalking the maidens of high socity.  Lugosi used the role to brand dracula forever with the his lilting hungarian accent  and devilishly strained eyes.








Nosferatu may mean  'plague-carrier' 'not dead' 'the insufferable one' as played by max schreck and expressionist director f.w. munaru, nosferatu brings plauge to bremen and is more  of a walking metaphore, dieing in an act of symbalism by she who is pure of heart sacrificign herself. 

the aristocratic vampire on which bela lugosi based his portrail of dracula arose in english litriture around 1820 based losley on english poet, Lord Byron.  Lugosi paints a picture of a suarve well dressed gentleman preying on the ladies of london high socity.   this became the mainstream stereotype of a vampiire in 20th cerntuary film with a buncha b-movies

Tod Browning's 2nd vampire movie, 'Dracula' 1931 was an adaptation of a sucessful broadway play and took Bela Lugosi, genuian hungarian!, as his dracula.  his charactarisitc speech pattern suposedly oweing to his inability to speak english, he learnt the lines phonetically.

tw munaru's lead man, max shrek plays a more traditional vampire of slavic roots,  a heidious desacated corpse arisen from the grave.
