This is a summary of a first person journal written by an anonymous married woman about her self versus community dilemma. The story starts off with the narrator talking about how she had solved her dilemmas in the past. She said that most of her past dilemmas were sexual ones about whether to do it or not. She admitted that her instincts usually won over her reasons, though. However, this latest dilemma of hers is different. Not only is it not a sexual dilemma, it is also a much more difficult one to solve. On one hand is about her, while one the other hand is about her own mother. The narrator is one of the lucky few that has the opportunity to move to England and start a new life there. However, her mother is getting old and the deterioration of her health is gradually picking up pace. The narrator wants to be with her mother when that inevitable end comes, but that would not arrive for over a decade. The narrator stated that she does not want to give up such a large chunk of her life away and pass up on this opportunity. She did come up with a solution though. She compromised and decided to take a very unrestricting job or be a freelancer. One of her ideas was to have a job on the Internet, since that it is one of the jobs that give the most freedom. This solution allows her to go to England, while being able to return whenever she wants and as soon as possible.
