What's Wrong With Us Goans?

The Name of the Disease: Westernitis!

The recent rape of a student by colleagues in the Goa Arts College, Miramar, (see here) disturbed us greatly. However, bad enough as it was, it was far from telling the true picture of our current situation.

More disturbing and symptomatic was the even more recent murder of Estella Coutinho by her "husband" (See abridged web versions of the newsreports below). It is this case that tells us more about the degeneration of Goan Christians than the Arts College Rape. Not surprisingly, I believe, no Goans took up this issue and analyzed it, using this unfortunate incident to draw conclusions from and seek to educate ourselves before things worsen further.

As it is, things are already very bad.

At this moment, we do not know whether Estella was even a Goan, for she may well have been Bombay Portuguese (the Northern Konkani who have assimilated themselves into Marathi culture and call themselves East Indians after John Company), or Mangalorean, or even from Bengal, where there remains a tiny minority of Christians and increasingly, nominal Christians descended from the Portuguese, Goans and native converts.

The victim of the Goa Arts College rape was, I believe, a German-Indian. That is, her parents were Indian from Kashmir and German.

Recently, there had been newsreports of an image of the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ weeping in the house (home?) where it was installed. What is more important from my viewpoint is the telling fact that the house belonged to some Mascarenhases, while the girls who are reported to have seen this was a Judith Karande and her sister.

Obviously, a daughter of this Mascarenhas had married a pagan, a Hindu, Karande, and this Judith was their daughter.

This is symptomatic of what is happening to us.

Estella Coutinho's case, as reported in the Mid-Day, Bombay, is similar.

Estella met an Assamese, a Pradeep Goswami, while he was working in a Bombay restaurant. They began an affair, and apparently they even had premarital, "consensual" sex. Worse, this was photographed.

Pradeep Goswami later moved on to another job and met and married a Rita Patel, a Gujarathi from whom he had two children. He settled with her in Baroda, in Gujarat.

Estella followed him there, met Rita and showed her the revealing photographs of their previous relationship. As a result, Rita abandoned Pradeep and divorced him. The court awarded Rita the custody of their children.

Pradeep moved to Delhi to work in yet another restaurant. Estella followed him there and persuaded him to "marry" her. They had a child, a daughter whom they named "Angel." Pradeep again lost jobs and unable to land one, returned to his native Assam.

All during this time, Estella seemed to have a relatively secure job, and seemed to be relatively financially better off than Pradeep. Pradeep would visit her from Assam, but she would house him in some guesthouse or the other, not take him home. On June 27, 2003, when they met after her work timings, in a guesthouse in Nariman Point, Bombay, Estella went to the washroom. When she returned, Pradeepstabbed her several times with a knife. Having murdered Estella, he called the police and surrendered at the scene of the crime.

This, at least, is the account printed in the Mid-Day of 28th June 2003, on page 1. The headline: He Killed For His Angel. Pradeep claimed that he murdered Estella because he had learnt that she had baptized Angel while he had wanted to raise her as a Hindu. When he had objected, Estella had moved back into her mother's house. Therefore, he says, he murdered her.

The 28th June Mid-Day newsreport, however, is based solely on Pradeep Goswami's version of events.

His account does not gel. Having murdered Estella, it is improbable that he will ever get the custody of the child, who would be instead confided to her grandparent, Mrs. Ruby Coutinho of Sahar. Pradeep Goswami can look forward to long years in the Arthur Road and Yerawada prisons, if he is not sentenced to die by hanging. And it is most probable that he will be hanged, for the case seems to be a clear cut premediated murder.

Personally, I do not buy either Goswami or Estella's family's version of his (Goswami's) motive. I believe that the real reason was that Goswami was fed up with Estella's behaviour towards him, toying with him, and wanted revenge.

The Mid-Day of 3rd July 2003 carried another article, on page 2, a day after Estella's birthday. This time, Estella's mother Ruby and sister Josephine were featured. They alleged that Pradeep Goswami murdered Estella not for the custody of their child or because Estella was raising her as a Christian, but for money. Josephine says, "He knew that if he killed her, all her savings would go to the child, which in turn would come to him."

Josephine and Ruby also claimed that Angel, who was baptized on 21st December 2002 at the Sacred Heart Church, Vashi, New Bombay, was baptized with her father's consent. Soon after Angel's birth on 20th June 2002, Goswami lost his job in the Hotel Blue Diamond, Vashi. He blamed the birth of the girl-child for his bad luck, and wanted to kill her. That is why Estella moved to her mother's home, at Sahar.

However, even after this, Goswami visited them frequently. The Mid-Day newsreport carried a copy of a photograph of Goswami, Estella and Angel taken on 20th June 2003 at Sahar, where they were celebrating Angel's birthday. Mid-Day also quoted a neighbour of the Coutinhos in Sahar, Puja Pawar, that Goswami was very brutal with Estella, who remained forgiving. "She kept telling us that he would improve with time," said Pawar. (Mid-Day, English edition, Bombay, 3rd July 2003)

While it may be that my understanding is wrong, this is what I understand from the two articles:

Estella Coutinho was a Christian girl brought up in the permissive Western culture. These girls tend to believe that they are free and without the need to account to anyone, and tend to "fall in love" with pagan youth, since they disdain Christian youth as old fashioned and "not with it."

Estella not only had a relationship, she even had a sexual relationship, and even had compromising photographs taken. And she used those photographs to destroy Goswami's subsequent marriage (itself an "inter-racial" marriage, between an Assamese and a Gujarati, even though both seem to be Hindu). Again, she kept on pursuing him, and they were "married."

From the viewpoint of the Catholic Faith, her marriage to Pradeep Goswami, a man already married and thus under an impediment to further marriage during the lifetime of his spouse, Estella's "marriage" to Pradeep was null and void. To put it in precise language, they were living together in sin, and in sin they begot a daughter.

Many Hindu youth delude themselves that Christian girls are easy to "acquire". In a way, that is true. However, the "acquisition" apparently, is not of the girl by the boy, but of the boy by the girl. That is because the girl knows exactly what she wants and why, while the boy deludes himself that he has successfully landed a catch...

What is worse, however, is that not only has a bad start been made, but such a marriage is then doomed to unhappiness. This is because, unlike the traditional Christian and Hindu understanding of marriage, where the husband is the head of the family, the Western concept, which is based on Anti-Christianism, is of individual freedom and anarchy, the rights of individuals to the detriment of society.

Therefore, the woman who has contrived such a marriage, has contrived it for the exact reason that she wants to have an easy victim to manipulate, a hapless man who has no idea at all of what lies in store for him, unlike Christian youth who do have learnt from past experience and so do have some idea of the situation, and seek to avoid it...

Therefore, with such a relationship, what happens is that there is complete anarchy. The wife refuses to obey the husband, and submit to him, and instead of one society, there ends up two sovereign and independent republics, sharing only in their mutual misery.

Typically, in such a "union", the man is financially less secure than the woman. Not only will the woman not submit and give way to the man, but she will be financially stronger, while he will be insecure, thus contributing to the instability.

This is a sure recipe for disaster. It destroys the childrens' chance for a happy and educational upbringing, and it ends up with each child becoming another sovereign and independent republic, unbeholden to anybody else.

From the Christian veiwpoint, this is not the only evil that these "unions" bring. Far more dangerous is the confusion of cults — the cult of our God Yahweh-Elohim, or of Christ Jesus, who is Yahweh incarnate, and the cults of the manmade "gods". This not only damages the faith of the compromising spouse, but also that of the offspring, and it also damages society, compromising it.

Christianity is very clear about the heirarchy of persons, even within the family. First of all, the head of the family is the father or the husband, to whom the wife must submit herself. Second comes the wife.

Christian submission of the wife does not mean that women are inferior or that they are slaves. It means that there cannot be two heads of any body, and by the will of God, He had designated the man as the head.

And the disease of Westernism, of Feminism, has not only infected those who opt for "mixed marriages" but also those who marry fellow-Christians.

Today, of course, to be Christian is to be, in actual fact, Western. Goan Christians believe that Western Culture is Christian culture.

As a matter of fact, Western culture began with the rejection of Christianity at the hands of the Protestant deformers, Luther et al, and has steadily degenerated into agnosticism, atheism, paganism, the New Age, Hedonism, Liberalism, Anarchy, Feminism, etc., via the Anticlerical "revolutions" (France, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, etc.) foisted by the Jews and their dupes on the once-Christian people of Europe and America.

Westernism rejects Christian principles of submission to legitimate authority, and most importantly to the moral requirements of Christianity, and declares that all men and woman are free to do as they please. Thus, Westernism is the antithesis of Christianity.

If Goans wish to avoid the disaster that is fast overcoming them, and actually reverse it, they will need to boldly revolutionize by overthrowing and rooting out Westernism and returning zealously to Christianity, to the teachings of Goencho Saib (St. Francis Xavier), Fr. Juze Vaz and Fr. Agnelo de Souza.

This is our only hope.

Man Kills Wife To Get Custody Of His Angel

Sanat Vallikappen, Bombay. July 1, 2003. Source: Mid-Day. Text edited. Text conformed to print version.

After he lost the custody of his two children from his previous wife, Pradeep Goswami, 45, did not want to lose his third child to another divorce, so he killed his second wife.

Goswami, a former captain (ordertaker) at the Copper Chimney Restaurant at Worli, killed Estella Coutinho, 40, on Friday at a guest house in the Advent building near the Y. B. Chavan Memorial Center, Cuffe Parade, Bombay.

The immediate provocation was that Goswami, who lived in Delhi while his wife worked in Bombay, recently found out his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Angel, had been baptised without his knowledge and was being brought up in the Catholic faith. He wanted her to be brought up as a Hindu.

The two, say the police, discussed the possibility of a divorce and Goswami told his wife that he was willing as long as he got the custody of the child.

On Friday Estella decided to settle the matter once and for all and told Goswami to meet her in room number 14 of the guesthouse in the Advent building after she had finished her work for the day.

They met that evening and fought again. At some point, she went to the washroom. As soon as she stepped out, Goswami stabbed her in the stomach and then thrice in the back, after which he held her by the hair and slit her throat.

Man Kills Wife, Calls Police To Surrender

Sanat Vallikappen [email protected]. Mid-Day, Tuesday, 1st July 2003. Bombay, English Edition. Page 2.
On Friday, Pradeep Goswami, 45, killed his wife Estella Coutinho, 40, over the custody of their daughter Angel.

The murder took place at a Cuffe Parade guesthouse, where the couple had gone to discuss a possible divorce. Goswami had lost custody of his two children from a previous marriage and did not want to lose a third.

He stabbed his wife in the stomach and back and slit her throat. After making sure she was dead, he telephoned the police and surrendered.

Coutinho and Goswami met in 1984 through a common friend while he was working at the Copper Chimney restaurant. They met several times after that but in 1986, Goswami shifted base to Baroda, and there he fell in love with a certain Rita Patel. The same year he married her and had two children with her.

When Estella found out about the marriage, she went to Baroda to meet Rita Patel and told her about her (previous) liaison with Goswami and even shoed intimate pictures of her with him.

Soon after, Patel divorced Goswami and got the custody of the two children.

After the break up of his marriage, Goswami left for Delhi to work in a restaurant there. Estella followed him and in 2001, they got married there. But in 2002, Goswami met with a severe accident. He had to go on long leave and had rods inserted in both his legs. He lost his job, and after the restaurant he started in Delhi shut down, he shifted to his hometown in Assam.

Estella however came back to Bombay and started working as a receptionist in the Thermax office in Colaba. Goswami came ot Bombay on 23rd May 2003 to visit his wife and daughter. Instead of him living with them, he was put up at the Saba Guesthouse in Bora Bazar Street, Fort, by Estella and the couple used to meet at Churchgate every day to discuss their future.

Inspector Prakash Singh Boparai of the Cuffe Parade Police station who is investigating the case revealed that Goswami had bought the knife on 24th June 2003 and had confessed to premeditated murder.

Angel is, meanwhile, living with her grandmother and aunt.

'He murdered his wife for money'

By A Mid-Day Correspondent. July 3, 2003. Mid-Day

Yesterday was her birthday. But she will not celebrate it this time, or ever again. Her family simply gathered for a solemn function at the Our Lady of Health parish church in Sahar village, where she has been buried.

On June 27, Estella Coutinho (40) was murdered by her husband Pradeep Goswami (45), who allegedly did not want to lose custody of their daughter Angel (1) following their impending divorce.

But Estella's aggrieved mother Ruby Coutinho (and sister Josephine) maintains that he killed her for money, and used her daughter to misguide the police.

Says Josephine, He was totally dependent on her financially. She even took a Rs 4.65 lakh loan to look after his needs. He knew if he killed her, all her savings would go to the child, which in turn would come to him.

He did not murder her because Estella has baptised Angel and was bringing her up in the Christian faith.

Mother Ruby Coutinho is fatalistic. We are going to fight the matter in court. But I still am a loser because I have lost my daughter.

Says Josephine, As soon as the child was born, Goswami lost his job in Blue Diamond Hotel, Vashi. He felt that the child brought him ill luck and wanted to kill her. That is why Estella moved in with us in our Sahar residence.

According to her, Angel was baptised at Sacred Hearts Church in Vashi on December 21, 2002, with Goswamis consent.

Even after the separation, Goswami kept visiting her. Josephine showed pictures of a happy family taken on June 20, when Goswami came to their house to join in the celebrations of Angels birthday.

Puja Pawar, a neighbour of the Coutinhos, alleges that Goswami was very brutal with Estella, who remained forgiving.

She kept telling us that he would improve with time, said Pawar.
