Unity - for the sake of salvation of souls - if nothing else

Dear Brethren and fellow Catholics,

The road to a re-established unified Catholic Church is in two parts.

The effort must be made to make a strong unified core of clergy (with lay support)

This will lay the preparatory foundations for a future papal election - as well as replicate the reality that most popes acted in conjunction with a College of clerics (Cardinals) - Popes rarely acted without such consultation - for they were rarely divinely inspired in the true sense. It is only when publicly pronouncing that they were infallible - and the pronouncements they made were based on years of collective prayer, thought and research.

It is unity of purpose and faith that will lead to the re-establishment of the Church - and put to a halt the millions of souls who are being lost meanwhile. It can not be exaggerated the importance of this last reflection - it is the raison d' etre of Christ's birth, death, resurrection and the establishment of His Church.

From the unified core will naturally flow the need and means for a papal election.

Sedevacantism - a term coined for what is a journey from V2 back to the true Church that some have taken - and some are taking - and some have yet to take.

All of the current sedevacantists started out being with the V2 Church. Not one - I think - realised at the precise moment of the accession of J XXIII - that the Church had ceased

At some point since 1959, people have realised the V2 Church is wrong - usually due to the changed Mass - or a realization that a vital Church belief or teaching has altered - such as anti-Modernism - or whatever.

To realise the 'Church' teaching is wrong is one thing - but one then must realise that the teaching makes the 'Church' no longer the Church - and that the Pope is not Pope - and one then will - if one is able - trace the canker to JXXIII and his henchman Martini.

Some stumble at this point - and just think the 'Church' is teaching wrongly - and is still the true Church (prisoner in the Vatican etc).

This position is fallacious - and can be pointed out to them with reason if necessary.

People in this middle ground category may include Pius X Society affiliates amongst others.

Indeed, many Novus Ordo Catholics are in this middle ground if you get talking to them - and so are their children - (why else do so many disillusioned people go off and join some fundamentalist meditative group?).

Neither they nor their parents can see the true Church any more - and we must re-light that beacon.

Problems Of Unity

The effort to unite the sede clergy faces many obstacles.

The Devil - working through V2 and its 'Popes' has splintered those amongst us who have recaptured or retained our Faith. We go along with this splintering if we don't try to work against it. We all must work against the attitudes that we can perceive 'out there' - we will be more specific.

Judgmentality: Some clergy/laity are too judgmental - of the validity/liceity/orthodoxy of other clergy. Opinions are reached on others which have no research or fact to back them. More importantly, there is no one amongst the present clergy who has authority to pronounce on anyone else (we speak here of course of the validity etc of a priest who claims he was ordained according to the correct rite - by a bishop ordained correctly whether or not the ordainor was in schism)

Heresy: There are some who
  1. presume this is the end of the world

  2. presume that God has suddenly ceased to expect them to use their ability (that is - to stop defending and supporting His Church and save souls)

  3. presume that this is the end of time (as the Church is to last until the end of the world) and are content to await the three days of darkness - or whatever form of direct intervention they think it will take for God to save us - again.

  4. presume that we must accept the status quo as God's Will and not fight; fight for the Truth, the Church, the Faith.
Reply: God also sends us temptations and crosses. This is His Will - these are two different things - crosses are accepted (deaths etc) but temptations are to be fought tooth and nail - we are meant to emerge from a temptation as a stronger person. It is not God's Will for us or anyone, to lose their soul through a temptation. It was God's Will for V2 to happen. We must assume that we are to fight V2 whatever form our fight can take. This is called 'charity to our neighbour'

Self appointed 'Popes': People - whether lay or clergy - who think they have the authority or the ability to interpret doctrines, events - epikeia - and decree all who disagree with them to be heretical.

Some are wary of a papal election because of the failure of recent or past elections. Past failures are usually due to lack of unity. Remember, Pius XII was valid because he was universally accepted. Look at Church History if you want further exposition on this - there are a plethora of instances in history where a Pope was ranged against an antipope - and both were saintly Catholics.

Re recent previous election attempts - well each are different - and carry their own problems.

  1. Linus II was problematical - he didn't want to be Pope.

  2. Michael I has the problem that people can't see it as universal - - probably because there were no clergy involved in it - and it lacked wide support

  3. Gregory XVII (Palmar de Troya) is a heretic

  4. ditto Pius XIIII (Fr Pulvermacher)
The problem seems always to be loosely based on lack of unity. The problem is that now people say - 'oh not another election - there are so many and all bring the faith into disrepute'

We cannot let past bungled attempts distract us from the requirements of the Church

SUMMARY

  1. we need a pope

  2. we should learn from past misfires (and Michael I and Linus II) were the best tries in our opinion

  3. unity will save an attempt from disrepute

  4. there is nothing intrinsically wrong with a papal election
People wrongly think there is no process that can be used in the current circumstances to elect a valid Pope - this concern has been dealt with again and again. Most people have now come to know that the method of election is not doctrinal at all - universality of acceptance is the real key. There are many good papers on this topic

Some are worried about universality - that not enough will be involved. Here and now we can state it will be unlikely every one will be involved (this is not Utopia) - but it is up to every true Catholic to use all means in his power to get as many Catholics (even those he dislikes) as they can to be involved.

Waffling. Sorry - but some out there will write and talk forever - how the V2 Church is wrong and how they are personally correct - but they do nothing to remedy the situation. And the situation is that millions of souls are in peril. These people are well meaning - but they must start to act towards unity with others and stop shadow boxing.

All these attitudes are out there - and we are not going to labour the points too much at this stage but each attitude is either misguided, egotistical, selfish or non-Catholic.

ACT NOW

We propose that each of those who now support the unified movement resolve that a true strong core of unity will be formed - which they will be part of and which they will from this month strive - by praying, fasting and CONTACTING each other as well as those not yet joined.

We suggest a date in mid 2003 for us all to work towards.

At that time, we would like each of you to have contacted and convinced at least five clerics who are as not yet convinced of the need to unite.
(Please see our website for lists of those contacted and those in favour.) Feel free to meanwhile contact any of those who have already expressed support - united effort is always better.

Every day more souls are lost - and more sedevacantist people slip and fall.

May God sanctify our endeavour.
