Experiments in Hypocrisy

During British India's movement for Independence, Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the great Sophaster, assured the National Conference Party, formerly the Muslim Conference, founded and led by Sheikh Abdullah, that 'the Kingdom of Jammu & Kashmir is a nation, and we will respect its rights,' or words to those effects. Yet, the same Mr. Gandhi stated that the people of Portuguese India do not have the right to remain separate, and that Portuguese India must and will be absorbed without the right of self-determination. This is the utterest hypocrisy.

And as Guru, so Chela: Gandhi's favourite disciple, Jawaharlal Nehru had this to say of Goa, given at Bombay on June 4, 1956: "if and when the Portuguese go and the people of Goa deliberately wish to retain their separate identity, I am not going to bring them by force or compulsion or coercion into the Indian Union."

"I merely say that my national interest involves the removal of the Portuguese from Goa, not coercion being used in bringing about the union with Indiathat is a matter ultimately for the people of Goa to decide."

"I want to make it perfectly clear that I have no desire to coerce Goa to join India against the wishes of the people of Goa but the point is that we feel that Goa's individuality should remain and that whenever the times comes for any changes, internal or others, it will be for the people of Goa acting freely to decide upon them."
(Francisco Monteiro: Is The State Of India Indian?)

Quite overflowing with Charity and Brotherly love, is'nt he? And this is just two years after his puppet-terrorists had seized and annexed de facto to the Indian Union, the two enclaves of Dadra and of Nagar-Avelim, without even bothering to conduct even a staged plebiscite. Greasy, meally-mouthed hypocrite, or what?

It is quite interesting that our darling Avuncular Chacha tells us that "this is his national interest".

Remember, if or when the Portugese go, or if we choose to be freely associated with Portugal, is something that is entirely our own affair, our internal matter. No other state has any right to object or comment on this!

And then we consider the utter absence of any mass movement, excepting a radical fringe, seeking the departure of the Portuguese, and we have been asking ourselves, what business was it of this loathsome, repulsive cockroach?

We ask: What is this his national interest? The Divine Right to Gratuitously Meddle in Other People's Internal Affairs?

Well, now we know. And we will remember. And serve as we have been served.

More Evidence of Nehruvian Hypocrisy

Recently (7th March 2003) I found on the NSCN-IM website some more evidence of Nehru's shameless hypocrisy:

On the eve of Indian independence Nehru stated that: "It is obvious that the Naga territory in Eastern Assam is much too small to stand by itself politically or economically Inevitably, therefore, this Naga territory must form part of India and of Assam with which it has developed such close associations."

A few years later on 7 December 1950, Nehru was passionately defending the rights of the Tibetan people. He stated: "It is not right for any country to talk about its sovereignty or suzerainty over an area outside its own immediate range. That is to say, since Tibet is not the same as China, it should ultimately be the wishes of the people of Tibet that should prevail and not any legal or constitutional arguments."

Rajendra Prasad, India's first President, even went on to say: "Freedom is the most sacred boon. It has to be protected by all means - violent or non-violent. Therefore, Tibet has to be liberated from the iron grip of China and handed over to the Tibetans" (Gandhi Maidan, Patna, 24 October 1962).

I ask, Are there no limits to hypocrisy? Nehru said "...it should ultimately be the wishes of the people of Tibet that should prevail and not any legal or constitutional arguments."

Bravo! This from the same man who insisted that Nagalim belongs to India by Divine Right, regardless of the aspirations of her peoples! This from the same hypocrite who in 1954 and 1961 invaded my country, Goa, and occupied it, and even had the gall to impose an 'anti-Secessionist Oath' on us!
