Worked for two months (Jul-Aug, 2000) under Dr.P.Gautam (Asst.Prof, Centre for Biotechnology-Anna University) and W.Richard Thilagaraj (research scholar, Centre for Biotechnology-Anna University) on various Experimental Techniques used in a Bio-Organic chemistry lab.
I did a short-term research project between May-July, 2001 under Dr.R.Jayakumar (Head, Dept of Bio-Organic Chemistry, C.L.R.I-Chennai) and Dr.C.Muralidharan (Tannery,C.L.R.I-Chennai) on the project titled “Using Basic lipase to stabilize the Collagen matrix?
I did a short-term training, between May11-June30 of 2002 under Dr. G.V.Shivashankar( Lab 6, NCBS-TIFR,Bangalore) on the "Principle, components and operation of an AFM." This used a quadrant position detector to detect deflections of the AFM tip.

Extra-curricular activities:
I represented my school, and came first, in a state level science quiz conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Science Forum. This is an organization funded by the state government to create scientific awareness throughout the state.
I was a cadet in the National Cadet Corps ( Division- Army, Platoon-signals) in my first year of college and I attended a 12 day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) in April-2000,as a requirement for honorable discharge. This was part of our one year compulsory personality and character development course.
I was a co-quizmaster in the quiz held during National Science day celebrations held in- Feb-2001.This function is conducted jointly by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and our department. The DBT is a Govt. of India undertaking responsible for funding biotechnology related projects in India.
Worked as a resource person for a "Workshop on Bioinformatics " organized between Dec13-16, 2001.This was organised by Dr.P.Gautam in CBT-Anna university.
Worked as an organizer for Biotechcellence-2002, a national level students symposium, for students doing their bachelor's degree or masters degree.
I represent both A.C.Tech and Anna university in their soccer team.
Future Plans:
To do my doctoral studies in structural biology with a concentration in Biophysics and biochemistry. I am especially interested in the field of single molecule biophysics.
