Mera ji hai jab tak teri justju hai,
Zabaan jab talak hai yehi guftgoo hai.
Khuda jane kya hoga anjaam is ka,
Main besabar itna hun woh tund khu hai.
Tamanna hai teri agar hai tamanna,
Teri aarzoo hai, agar aarzoo hai.
Kiya sair humne gulzaar-e-duniya,
Gul-e-dosti mein ajab rang-o-boo hai.
Ghanimat hai yeh deed wa deed-e-yaarraan,
Jahan mund gayi aankh, mein hun na tu hai.
Nazar mere dil ki pari Dard Kis par,
Jidhar dekhta hun wohi ruh-ba-ruh hai.
translation : -
Your quest is my objective, as long as I live
Of you alone I talk, while I have a tongue.
God knows how it all may end,
Impatient am I, intemperate he.
For you alone I yearn, if yearn at all.
You are my desire, if I harbor one.
Much have I travelled in the garden of the world,
Peerless is the flower of friendship in it's scent
and hue.
A blessing is the sense of sight, the sight of
friends a boon,
Once our eyes are closed, You and I will cease to
be one.
Who else, O Dard, should my eyes accost ?
He alone is present where ever I look.
--------------------X-------------------------------
Hum tujh se kis havas ki falak justuju karen
Dil hi nahin raha jo kuch aarzoo karen.
Mit jaen ek aan mein kasrat namayaan,
Ham aaine ke samne aakar jo hoo karen.
Tar damaani pe sheikh hamaari na jaiyo,
Damaan nichor dain to farishte wazoo karen.
Sar ta qadam zabaan hain jun shama go ke ham,
Par yeh kahaan majaal jo guftgoo karen.
Har chand aina hun pur itna na qabool,
Munh pher le woh jiske mujhe ruh-ba-roo karen.
Ne gul ko hai sabaat, ne ham ko atbaar
Kis baat pur chaman havas-e-rang-o-bu karen.
Hai apni yeh salaah ke sab zahidaan-e-shahar,
Ai Dard a ke bet-e-dast-e-sabu karen.
translation :-
What should I desire, O heavens, what for implore,
The desire nurturing heart is with me no more.
The forms manifold will instantly dissolve,
If before the mirror I breathe: "O God"!
Judge me not, O Skeikh, by my drenched hem,
Angels will ablution seek if I wring my cloak.
Taper like though I am a tongue from head to heel
Yet I dare not open my lips for speech.
A mirror I am, no doubt, but so much out of grace
That whoso I confront, withdraws his face.
Short our span of life, transient too the rose,
Where should we harbor a love of hue and scent ?
This is my counsel, Dard, to the pious of the town,
They should come kneel to the wine-flask.

Aata hai yaad mujhko guzraa huwa zamaana
Woh baag ki bahaare woh sab ka chechahana
Azaadiyaa kaha woh ab apne ghosle ki
Apni khushi se aana, Apni khusi se jaana
Lagti hao choot dil par, Aata hai yaad jis dam
Shabnam ke Aasuoo par Kaliyoo ka muskuraana
Woh pyaari pyaari surat, woh kaamini si murat
Aabad jis ke dam se tha mera Aashiyaana
Aati nahi Sadaayee us ki mere kafas mein
Hoti meri rihaahi ay kaash mere bas mein
kya bad-naseeb hoo mein Ghar ko taras raha hoon
Saathi to hai watan mein, mein kaid mein pada hoon
Aayi bahaar, kaliya phoolo ki has rahi hai
mein is andhere ghar mein kismat ko ro raha hoon
Is kaid ka Ilaahi, dukhda kise sunaoo
dar hai yahee kafas mein, mein gam se mar na jaooo
Jab se chaman choota hai yeh haal ho gaya hai
Dil gam ko kha raha hai, Gam dil ko kha raha hai
Gaana ise samajh kar khush ho na sun-newale
Dukhe huwee diloo ki faryaad, yeh sada hai
Azaad mujh ko kar de O kaid karne wale
Mein bezoobaa hoon kaidi, mujhe choodh kar dua le !

i have nothing more to say. These next lines are
sheyrs i have picked up from different Nazm's of Ghalib.
(happy) (drop)
ASHRAT-E-KATRA HAI, DARYA MEIN FANA HO JAANA
DARD KA HAD SE GUZARNA, HAI DAVA HO JAANA
1. The hapiness of the drop is to die in the river;
When pain exceeds the limits; the pain itself becomes medicine.
-*-*-*-*-
GIRNI THI HUM PE BARQ-E-TAJALLI, NA TUR PAR
DETE HAI BAADAH, TARAF-E-QADAH KHUAAR, DEKH KAR
(wine) (glass of drinker)
Context:Moses
1. The illuminating Lightning was to fall upon us, not on the Sinai;
Wine is given, only after seeing the goblet of the drinker.
(These lines mean that Man have the power to bear a lot of difficulties.
The lightning that fell on Mount Sinai, was indirectly directed towards us..
and only after seeing the power in us to bear hardships, we are made likewise.
As even wine is served after seeing the (limit/capacity) of the glass.

WOH APNI KHU NA CHOODENGE, HUM APNI VAZAA KYO CHOODE ?
SUBUK SAR BAN KE KYA POOCHE KE "HUM SE SAR-GIRAA KYO HO ?
(humble) (angry)
1. She will not give up her habits; why should we give up our ways(habits) ?
Why be humble and ask "why are you angry ?"
(Slang: tum akad gaye, to bhai apun kyo thandi baat kare)

MERI RAFTAAR SE, BHAAGE HAI BAYAABAA(n) MUJH SE

With my speed, the desert is running away from me. (ie. in opp direc)

Here is an a'la shair of Ghalib...which i came across:
(But, u must be wondering why m i directing this shair to u ? and i m
sure the first question that has come to ur mind is that "does it involve
any of ur characteristics.?"...and UNTIL u have guessed, which one
of ur peculiar feature i m refering to, Please don't read ahead.)
(BTW, this shair is in ur FAVOR, and will give u excessive support in the
future):
Seene ka Daag hai woh Naalah, ke lab tak na gaya.
Khaak ka Rizk hai woh katra jo darya na huwa.
(U probably may be able to understand the above lines without my guidance,
but what u will understand is:
Stiching(Seene) is a stain (daag) for that thread (Naadah),
which was used in the Khaaki-kurta, and was unable to sink in water.(darya)
AND WHAT I AM TRYING TO TELL U IS:
That Naalah (grief) which does NOT come out of the heart (seene), via words
is just a stain on the heart. i.e. ur grief has no effect and no meaning if it
does not come out in POWERFUL words and just remains in ur heart like a stain.
&
Similarly, those tears (katra, is related to tears here)...which come out,
as a drop or two have no meaning....they will just get absorbed by the
earth (khaak ka rizk), i.e. they will be useless. Therefore, if u want to
cry, cry so much that there is a whole sea of tears....and that will be
effective!!! to create a toofaan (i.e. a result)
In brief, ur voice/tears (message) should reach to the other person in an
effective way...or else it is just a waste and an futile attempt.
==========================================================
I have read Shairies after a long time. And so u can add this to ur collection.
These are few lines of the Shair HAALI. Iqbal was inspired by him, and so if
u see, SOME of Iqbal's words are actually Haali's thoughts. The following is
said by Haali about Muslim's in India.
Na Sarkaar mein kaam paane ke kabil
Na Darbaar mein lab hilaane ke kabil
(herds)
Na Jungle mein revad charaane ke kabil
Na baazar mein boojh uthane ke kabil
(100)
Na padhte to sau tarah khaate kamaa kar
Woh khoyee gayye aur taalim paakar
Jo poochoo ke hazrat ne jo kuch padhaa hai
Muraad aap ki is ke padhne se kya hai
(faidaa)
Mafaad is mein dunya ka ya deen ka hai
Natijaa koi yaa ke is ke siwa hai
(absorbed)
To majzoob ki tarah sab kuch bakenge
jawaab is ka laikin na kuch de sakeenge.

***> KARTA MALAK-UL-MAUT TAKAZA KOI DIN AUR.

Meaning : (of Line 2)
KHARE : like in khara-sona (good/true)
DAAD-O-SATAD: pronounced like in Ustaad-Madad..
means trade (give & take)
Comprehensive meaning :
When were u so good/true while giving back your dues. So what was the need
of giving your life to the Angel of Death...he would have waited for some
other time.
I was just wondering :
Are u guys (by any chance) subscribed to some news group called :
