There are two major things I have learned from my experiences in the ministry of Praise and Power: firstly, to pray, and secondly, that the Lord provides. I first went to a Praise and Power service at the end of my first year, and I remember thinking, wow… I want to be on the Praise and Power team! The music was so phenomenal and so powerful. When the old team put out the word that they were looking for new team members, I was so excited. Here was my chance to be a part of the most incredible music worship group on campus! The old team cautioned all of us to be thinking about it, but more importantly, to be praying about it. A big learning experience for me was when I truly prayed about whether the Lord was calling me to the team or not. I had to seriously reflect on whether being a part of Praise and Power was a result of my own desires, or if it was God's will for my life that I serve Him in this ministry. Throughout the year that the current Praise and Power team has been together, there have been so many times where we have just had to pray that His will be done, and that He will provide. Whether it be from broken strings to sore throats, He has taught us all to rely solely on Him. I don't think that I can stress enough the importance of hearing His voice through communicating with Him in prayer. Matthew 21:22 says "And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." When we've prayed, He has been faithful, and He has provided in so many ways. From getting an overhead person for each service to moving our hands and our mouths in ways that we could never do ourselves, He has shown again and again that He provides. God has really shown me that if I would stop limiting His power, that He can really work in my life and in the lives of others. I suppose that's what Praise and Power is all about: praising Him, and drawing from the blessings that His power bestows on us. The Lord has provided for me personally in more ways that I could begin to think of… He has given me the gift of music, He has provided me with strength to finish my work when I need it, and He has blessed me with an incredible source of fellowship with other brothers and sisters in Christ. God is awesome; He is faithful. He is there, and we only need to call out to Him for Him to provide us with immeasurably more than we could ever imagine. :)
