When many turned away from Jesus, our Savior asked his disciples, "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Peter’s emotional response foreshadowed the cry of many Christians today: "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." (Jn 6:60-70) These words echo throughout this song as a testament of the utter dependence we have on Him.

This song was written during a time of personal tragedy when the temptation was strong to forsake God for pleasure and any other feel-good measure. Yet, in times of hardships and trials, it is only God who can be depended upon. So, rather running away, it is imperative that we cry, "I need you, Lord!" This is the theme of this song.

Don’t let the easy-going beginning played by the electric piano as the soft vocals emerge fool you! Before you are far into the piece the driving guitars and a hard-hitting rhythm section will drive this point home while stressing an airy melody that cries out to the Lord in distress with thankfulness and adoration. Full, smooth harmonies are contrasted by the screaming lead that brings intensity to the message.
