A deep resonating bass and drums provide a foundation for the piano and acoustic guitars that resonate this melody that has become a favorite among a multitude of Christian congregations. In time a soft flute joins in with the help of a deep cello to lift the worshipper in praise as he sings, "Glory to the Three in One!"

Song Story

 

This praise hymn has left me with untold memories. When I was the Sunday Morning praise leader at First Baptist Church of Bakersfield, the pastor would have me play this song regularly. However, I would invariably play the chorus faster than he desired. When I began the hymn, I would play as slow as I thought I possibly could. Yet time-after-time, when we got to the chorus, he would direct me to slow down, preparing for the one final accapella congregational chorus. I never got it down quite right, but the experience was always great.

Of course, when I put this arrangement together, I did it my way, which was a little faster. Yet, it begins in the same delicate mood that I remember from those years with a gentle piano and acoustic guitar revealing the melody. As the bass, drums, and B3 organ join in, the somber, reflective emotional mood maintains with enthusiasm and praise. A final utterance from the cello leaves the worshiper in a reflective mood filled with adoration of praise for the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
