| PRESENTATION: "North Dakota Cancer Registry: What Is It? What Do We Do?" As the Program Director of the North Dakota Cancer Registry, Marlys Knell's duties include directing and overseeing all registry operations as well as performing program administration, program management, data management, and management of personnel. She also serves on various national and health department cancer division committees. From 1963 through 1970 Marlys was employed as a medical transcriptionist at a hospital in Bismarck. She then went on to serve as the cancer data analyst/business manager of a joint cancer registry from 1984 to 1991, and served as supervisor of the registry program until 1998. Education background includes certification for Medical Secretary and for Certified Tumor Registrar, plus attending many webinars, workshops and conferences to keep up with the various changes/standards in the collection and coding of cancer data. |
