Meeting Minutes for February 9, 2008

Old Business
Website – Robyn reminded those who have not yet done so to provide a blurb. She also shared information about upgrading our website. Geocities is offering a Plus program ($4.95/mo) and a Pro program ($8.95/mo); both upgrades provide capabilities that we don’t need at this time. All present agreed to revisit this issue as needed.
Retreat – March 8, 2008 at Parkland College (Room X-150) from 10 AM to 4 PM. Everyone is encouraged to attend and to bring a writing exercise or idea to share. The chapter will provide a meat/cheese and veggie tray. Members are asked to bring something to share (see Lynn’s email); everyone will bring their own beverages.
Newsletter – Ramona offered to write a History Corner article for each issue; her offer was enthusiastically accepted. A list of assignments will be posted on Yahoogroups. HiDee also shared that some editors on the Editorlink loop have agreed to share their newsletters. She intends to share a couple of newsletters at each meeting.
Market research – Lynn D. was not present.
Bookmarks, publicity – Lisa was not present.
T-shirts – Robyn showed examples of what t-shirts might look like. Discussion followed about the appearance of our logo and how to make it more attractive on the t-shirt. HiDee also suggested a tote bag with our logo. HiDee is going to ask the person who created the logo for us if he can enlarge the logo and make it a higher resolution, can we add color to it or possibly put a heart behind it, and can it be made transparent?
Dues – Several members still owe dues. Reminders will be sent out.
New Business Writing dreams for 2008 – Members present shared their thoughts.
Bylaws/P&P Manual – HiDee provided a handout for discussion. We reviewed the items listed and made decisions based on our discussion. HiDee will incorporate the decisions into the bylaws and send the revised bylaws out to everyone. Please take time to read them over. They must be sent to National for approval, and once approved by National, the chapter must vote to accept the revised bylaws.
