May 10, 2008 Meeting Minutes

Members present: Robyn Bielawski, Lynn Crandall, HiDee Ekstrom, Lisa Raymond, Rebecca Wright



We celebrated Robyn’s first place contest win with cupcakes. She shared her conference folder with us – it included a very nice certificate. Congratulations Robyn!



Old Business:

• Website:  Robyn still needs bios from Nancy and Angie -- please send them to Robyn.
• Newsletter:  HiDee handed out the April/May/June issue.  Submissions for the July/August/September issue can be sent to HiDee now.
• Treasury Report:  HiDee shared the treasury report.  If anyone has any questions, please let her know.
• Market Research:  Lynn D. was absent.
• T-shirts:  HiDee spoke to her computer guy about the logo and hopes to have one ready by the June meeting.
• P&P manual:  HiDee downloaded the pdf from National and plans to begin working on it.  Lynn asked if anyone would like to help with it.  If anyone would like to volunteer, let her know.
  
  

New Business:

• Awards policy:  In 2007, we established chapter awards. As a chapter, we voted that the awards would be as follows: A for Effort (certificate and pen) – voted by membership; Inspiration (bookmark) – voted by membership; Service (pin) – chosen by President. Members present agreed that everyone should keep track of what they do on their writing throughout the year, then submit it to the board.  All those who have actually worked on their writing will be eligible for the award. The board will verify eligibility.  Discussion followed about how to finance these awards – should we raise dues, or maybe create an award fund that each member can contribute to?  Please send any comments or suggestions to Lynn C.
• Update on writing:  Members present shared what they are currently working on.
• Inspiring person:  We each told about someone we know who inspires us in our lives.  
• Read pages/critique/brainstorm:  Lynn brought pages.
