| Sue McClelland A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Sue had an animal hating mother so she never had a dog as a child. ( she did get a horse on her 10th birthday ) Sue's grandfather had a farm so she spent most summers there among his animals ( and with her horse "King" ) A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Mills College, Oakland, Ca.Sue attended in 1960 the Harvard Business School's program for women ( to stay out of the typing pool, she claims ) She promptly went to work for Scott Paper Company in Philadelphia in their advertising department. Having spent college in California, Sue worked for years to try to return, which she did in 1972 when Gollo Winery called. Living in an apartment she promptly bought a Morgan horse named " Markka" and began showing her in pleasure driving with some success. At a Morgan show in Reno she spotted a dapple dachshund smooth puppy, and the love affair began. Fld.Ch.Gustav Schnapps was the first male field champion in the West. He led Sue to the Northern California Dachshund Club where she discovered wires. Lucky Sue's first litter included the noted SW Hermann ....Am Ch. Sioux's Hermann ROMO for four years he was the Number 1 wire, sire of 53 champions and many wonderful companions. Sue's mother claims Sue is "overcompensating" by having as many as 23 dachshunds and 8 Morgan Horses at one time. Hermann lived to a hearty 17 years of age and enjoyed the couch and the reports of many descendants form around the country and the world. Sue also showed to the #1 wire, Am Ch. Dollidach Waldmeer Blue Chip , who was bred by the Roders & the Kostics. He is also ROMX and producing lovely pups crossed with Hermann daughters. The she could have retired, Sue finances her " dachshund habit " by working as Vice President ~ Media at E & J Gallo Winery in Modesto, CA. With two complete hip replacements in the last two years, Sue has also sucessfully returned to the show ring garnering BOS to the current #1 wire with her 12 year old Am.Ch. Sioux's Hot Tamale.
