Broken Glass

Passing of the Storm

I pulled my jacket up close about my ears, trudging in the heavy rain. My light brown hair was dark, stringy and dripped water as I rounded the street's corner, walking straight through an ankle deep puddle.

Cursing inwardly as I felt icy water cling to my socks, I picked up speed. Lightening bolted across the dim sky as drops of water trickled down my face, pouring over my eyebrows.

A loud crack of thunder broke overhead and I ducked thinking that perhaps I could somehow escape it's grasp. But that was no use, it never was. There was just no escaping what stood right over you.

As there was no escaping the rolling thunder of this downpour above me, there was no escaping the bad spells that berate my life.

Both obstacles stand over top me and ducking only causes the cage to grow smaller around me. The thunder grows louder, the rain pours heavier and the sky becomes darker. It's all a replica of my life. The spells become more and closer together, the anxiety and depression deepens - driving a sane soul mad, and the pain become more unbearable with each passing breath

But like my enclosing thunderstorm that passed and ceased with a sway of God's wind, so do my spells. Only the cease with an angel's soft words.

"Paige," the angel spoke to me, it's soft voice drying the tears and rain drops on my face, "life may throw some pretty harsh spells at us, but if we all handle those spells in our own way life doesn't seem to be so bad."

I had to blink several times before realizing the truth. As an angel guided my way, perhaps I am here to guide your's.

Wiping the water off my face, I paused inhaling deep breath after deep breath, my angel walking away. You know what - it really isn't so bad ... life that is. Sure there's the ups and the downs you're constantly thrown to keep you off guard, but they're no worse than the passing storm.

Drenched as you may be at the time, you dry, as do those tears.

I smiled to myself, knowing that I have to deal with the things in the way that suits me, but it doesn't matter for it is my way and that is the best way. As long as it's your way. But no matter how I deal with any spell, big or small, there's always an angel who's got me covered.
