Mahuli, Western Ghats The western ghats a several day-long hiking trails are just a train ride away.

Iron Sculpture, Main Building Lawns, IIT Bombay I was there for five years and i still haven't figured it out.

The road to IDC ... A large proportion of IIT remains wooded and uncultivated. These roads seem to always have shade to walk in the hot summer months.

Lecture Theatre, IIT Bombay Many a coffee break were spent on the LT patio ... with friends and stray dogs :)

Powai Lake, Bombay (picture taken by Ajay Kumar Gopal). IIT (also known as IIT-Powai) is surrounded on three sides by the Powai, Vihar and Tansa Lakes.

Of course, the native cows owned IIT lands before we moved in They continue to have right of way .. food .. sleep .. everything :) !

Hiking trails in the ghats become deep red in color, as the rain washes the iron rich soil onto the trail.

Soon however, you can hardly see the trail as it gets covered with waist deep gushing water These are frequently called "Barsati nala's" - or rain drains.

Vihar Lake, Bombay. This lake actually supplies fresh drinking water to most of Bombay.
