RIVERSIDE

 

Chapter 4

 

 

C:  Jason you can't be here!  What are you doing here?

 

J:  Carly, I was worried.  I tried calling you.  I…. I just needed to see you.

 

Carly pulled her blanket up tightly around herself, tucking it under her chin.  "You shouldn't be here."

 

Jason reached out and touched her face. "Carly what's going on?"

 

Carly turned away from his touch.  She was scared plain and simple.  She loved Jason but the fact that she could have been pregnant was scarring her to death, and she just didn't know how to deal with that and him right now.

 

Jason felt a direct hit to his heart when she pulled away from him, but he wasn't going to let her push him away, not now.  He got up and sat down on her bed facing her.  "Carly I love you, I thought you loved me?" 

 

Tears filled her eyes as she remained silent. 

 

J:  Look at me Carly. 

 

He lifted her chin and looked directly into her eyes.  "You are my best friend I would never hurt you.  Please…. talk to me, tell me what is going on in that head of yours.  I can't fix things unless you tell me what's going on." 

 

Carly closed her eyes tightly and let out a loud sigh.  "I'm scared." 

 

J:  Of what?

 

C:  Jason we had sex.  Unprotected sex, that doesn't scare you?

 

J:  I know we messed up we will just be careful next time.

 

C:  Hello! 

 

She was now getting angry.  "Do you know how I just spent my day?"  Jason remained silent.

 

Laura heard the talking going on inside Carly's room.  She quietly pushed the door ajar and saw Jason with Carly.  She listened carefully to see how things played out.

 

C:  Do you?

 

J:  No

 

C:  Well let me fill you in then.  I have been at a clinic getting poked, prodded, tested and everything thing else humiliating you can think of.  Let me tell you it wasn't fun and it is not something I want to go thru again anytime soon.

 

Jason just looked at her, not knowing the right words to say. Carly's eyes filled again with tears and she broke down crying.  Between sobs she sadly let Jason know what really was upsetting her.  "They gave me the morning after pill."

 

A huge lump developed in his throat as she looked up at him with such sadness and pain in her normally sparkly brown eyes.  He reached out and pulled her into his arms holding her tightly as she cried. 

C:  I could have been pregnant Jase.

 

J:  I'm sorry, I am so sorry.

 

Laura's own eyes filled with tears as she watched Jason and Carly comfort each other.  She backed away from Carly's door deciding to let the two work things out alone and together.

 

Awhile had passed and Carly's tears ended and she slowly regulated her breathing letting Jason's steady heartbeat and strong arms calm her.  Carly's heart and head were both telling her the same thing……. Jason always supported her, even in her ugliest of times.   He had saved her that night almost a year ago and now he was here with her again, giving her strength.

 

She looked up at him seeing the concern on his face, "You are always here for me Jase." 

 

Jason kissed the top of her head, "And I always will be Carly."  She left his arms and faced him, staring into his bright blue eyes.  "You mean that don't you?"

 

J: I have never lied to you.  I won't ever leave you Carly.

 

He reached out and touched her face.  "Don't you get it?   I love you, and that is forever." 

 

C:  Forever?

 

J:  Yeah always Carly.

C:  I'm still scared. 

 

J:  I never want you to be scared, ever.

 

C:  I mean Jase, when we made love it felt so right didn't it? 

 

J:  It was perfect.

 

Carly smiled sadly.  "Yeah it was.  I just didn't realize everything that went along with it ya know?" 

 

J:  I know. 

 

C:  So where does that leave us?  I mean I am so not ready to have babies Jason.

 

J:  Neither am I. 

 

C:  Will you still love me if we don't have sex?

 

Jason grabbed her hands, holding them tightly in his.  "Carly, us having sex or not having sex won't change how I feel about you." 

 

C:  So you won't be mad if I want to wait? 

 

J:  I won't be mad no.  I want to make love to you again though Carly, but I will never rush or push you into anything you don't want.

 

C:  So let's take things slow and see where things go then?

 

J:  Yeah that sounds good to me.

 

A weight lifted off of Carly and she let out a sigh and flew back into Jason's arms.  He held on tight knowing everything would be okay.

 

C:  I love you Jase.

 

J:  I love you too.

 

After a few minutes Carly realized it was getting late.

 

C:  Jase you better get out of here before my dad comes home.

 

J:  Yeah I kinda snuck out of the penthouse.

 

C:  Oh god.

 

J:  It'll be fine.  Sonny won't know, Johnny will cover for me.

 

C:  I hope so.

 

J:  So I will pick you up tomorrow for school?

 

C:  You better. 

 

Jason felt a bit awkward; he wanted to kiss her but didn't want to push anything.  So he stood up and started for the balcony.

 

C:  Jase?

 

He turned back around, "Yeah?"

 

Carly went to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling widely at him,  "Your not gonna stop kissing me are you?" He laughed seeing a little bit of sparkle starting to return to her gorgeous brown eyes.   

 

Before his lips met hers he whispered, "I can't imagine not being able to kiss you."  

 

Their kiss was gentle and sweet sealing and solidifying their love for each other.  Carly rested her forehead against his the warmth of his lips still lingering on hers.

 

C:  So call me when you get home so I know your safe.

 

Jason kissed her forehead then her lips again quickly before heading out onto the balcony. 

 

J:  I will.

 

Carly watched him as he skillfully climbed down the tree safely.  Once he was out of view she climbed back into bed and snuggled down letting herself finally get the rest her body craved.
