Background:
Jason left that day three years ago. He said goodbye to Port Charles and never returned. Sonny never gave Carly the letter that Jason had entrusted to him. He knew why Jason was leaving and he knew the letter was going to give Carly a choice, one that he knew he would loose. So instead of letting Carly choose, he kept the letter from her and let her believe that Jason had left without saying goodbye to her or Michael. It is now three years later and Carly and Sonny are divorced. She had tried to get him to leave the organization by trusting the FBI, but Sonny looked at this as a betrayal and he threw her out of this house and his life, cutting all ties to her and Michael. Instead of trying to get Sonny to forgive her, Carly moved on with her life. She teamed up with her Uncle Luke and the two of them with help from Roy brought down Helena Cassadine and brought Lucky back to the real world and out from under Helena's mind control.
Lucky and Carly became very close. They were like brother and sister. They had now built an investigation/bounty hunting business together and were quite successful. They stayed in Port Charles making it their main headquarters. Michael was now in elementary school and living with Bobbie and Lucas whenever Carly and Lucky were away on a case. Business kept them very busy, so that neither one of them had any real time to think about their true loves that were no longer part of their lives. Carly shut her heart down the day Jase had left and never said goodbye. She tried to be happy with Sonny and she had even convinced herself she loved him for awhile, but Jason would always have her heart. Lucky never forgave himself when Helena killed Elizabeth as a means to gain more control over him in her sick game of cat and mouse with the Spencer's. So instead of facing their pain they worked hard and became very rich and successful.
Present Day 2001 Charmed Investigations
C: Lucky where is that file on Rico? Mr. Barnes needs us to track him down before the trial starts next week.
L: Carly, I think you should see this. He hands her the paper.
C: What are we stars again?
She takes the paper and reads the headline, stumbling backward into her chair. MOB BOSS SONNY CORINTHOS DEAD AFTER HIS CAR EXPLODED OUTSIDE OF HIS APARTMENT BUILDING LAST NIGHT.
L: You okay?
C: Wow, he's dead. I knew this day would come, I just didn't think I would feel this way.
L: What way?
C: Nothing, I feel nothing. God Lucky, I'm not shocked, I'm not upset, I don't feel anything. I should feel something for the man. I just don't.
L: Well after what that man put you through I am not surprised.
C: Yeah well I hope he can now find peace.
There is a knock on their door.
L: I'll get it. Alexis, come on in. I assume your here about Sonny's death?
A: Yes actually. He left this for Carly.
C: What is it?
A: It is an envelope with your name on it. I also wanted to let you know you and Michael were named in his will. The will is going to be read on Thursday. Can you make it?
C: I will try, thank you Alexis.
Carly took the letter and headed back into her office. She looked at the handwriting it wasn't Sonny's. Her legs felt like Jell-O and she lost her balance falling to her knees onto the floor. It was Jason's writing. Suddenly all the heartache she has been so successful at pushing away hit her again just as strong as ever. She carefully opened the envelope and pulled out the paper inside.
September 25, 1998
Carly,
God where do I even begin�..how do you tell someone how much they mean to you. I have never been able to say the words you have needed me to say to you, until now. I LOVE YOU CARLY. If I am honest with myself I fell in love with you the first day I saw you, but I let the fear that we would wreck each other take over and I never told you how much I need you.
I want us to be together, so I am asking you to choose. Me or Sonny. I am going to wait for you in Florida. I will wait at your old house on the beach. God baby, I love you and I want us to be a family again. Just you, me and Michael. We will leave everyone and everything behind and start a new life together. Just come home to me Carly. I can't breath without you baby. Please let me show you how much I love you, let me make you happy for the rest of our lives.

The sobs took control of her body and she began shaking uncontrollably.
Lucky came in to find her in a ball on the floor crying. He rushed over to her and picked her up holding her in his arms.
L: Carly?
She handed Lucky the letter and he read it while still holding her. He felt the tears well up in his own eyes.
L: God this was written three years ago.
C: Jason must have given it to Sonny to give to me. He just never did. All this time Lucky, all this time.
L: I'm so sorry Carly.
Power of Three bike shop in Texas:
Jason was finishing up work on a bike it was late and he was exhausted. He looked at the clock, 2AM. Another late night, they all seemed to run together. He made his way into his office and grabbed a cup of coffee before sitting down at his desk. He opened his desk drawer and took out the picture of his family. Not a day had gone by that he hadn't thought of them. It had been three years but he still thought about her everyday. He had waited 2 months for her in Florida before he gave up and ended up in Texas. The last three years had come and gone and Jason found each day blending into the next. He had opened Power of Three bike shop as a way to pass the time. He had hoped that it would take his mind off of missing Carly, but everyday something or someone just brought her face back crashing into his head.
J: I don't know how to live without you Carly.
The tears started to cloud his vision and the picture of his family started to blur. He got up and walked over to the couch, still holding the picture to his chest he closed his eyes as the tears continued to fall. He let the exhaustion take over and he fell asleep, his heart breaking all over again.
Charmed Investigations:
C: I have got to find him Lucky. God its been three years, and he thinks I never came to him because I didn't love him. I have to tell him the truth.
L: Carly, it has been three years. Are you sure you are prepared for the fact that you might find him and he has moved on?
C: Well that is a chance I am going to have to take. I never stopped loving him Lucky, he has to know that.
L: I guess we better get on the computer and start hacking if we are gonna find him.
Carly threw her arms around Lucky.
C: Thanks Lucky you are the best.
L: Well, we shall see. Carly, you know Jason is a pro at hiding out. If he doesn't want to be found.
C: Then we will have to work harder to find him won't we. Come on lets get started.
