Outside the Port Charles Police Station:
The bullets came screaming through the air and before he could get out of the way he felt the hot metal pierce his body. He felt pain all over his body as he fell back onto the cold wet cement. She flashed into his mind as the smell of gun powdered lingered in the air. She was so beautiful, standing in one of his t-shirts waiting for him at the penthouse, then he saw them dancing at Jakes together. He kept focusing on her trying to block out the pain. He heard the sirens and screaming but all he wanted to do was see her face and feel her lips on his.
Lucky rushed over to his side.
L: Jason, oh God man. Jase stay with me man, your gonna be okay, just look at me.
J: Carly
L: What? Yeah, we will find her man, just stay with me.
J: Carly, I need you.
Suddenly the ambulances arrive and Taggert comes over to question Lucky.
T: What the hell happened here?
L: You tell me Taggert - three men just opened fire on us in front of your police station
T: Is that right? he snickered
L: Look Shaft, my friend is laying on the ground dying, so if you don't mind I would like to get back to him.
Lucky turns back to see the paramedics working on Jason, he kneels in front of him. "It's going to be all right Jason, just hang in there."
Taggert turns to the paramedic attending to Sonny. T: Did he make it?
P: No I'm sorry he's dead. He never had a chance, bullet straight to the head.
GH Emergency Room:
The paramedics came rushing in with Lucky following right behind. "We got a male mid-twenties with bullet wounds to the chest and stomach."
Bobbie who is on duty sees Lucky.
B: Lucky, what happened.
L: Aunt Bobbie, thank God you're here, Jason, he was shot. Can you go with him?
B: Sure Lucky, I'll be back.
Lucky paces the room, then calls his dad to let him know what happened. Meanwhile back in the ER Bobbie comes in to see Jason being hooked up to a bunch of machines. She goes and grabs his hand as tears fall from her face, "Jason, everything is going to be alright."
J: Carly.
B: Don't worry Jason I'll get her here. You just stay strong for her and Michael. They need you.
Then suddenly Jason looses consciousness and begins to flat line...The doctor ushers Bobbie out of the way. After a few seconds, they get him back, and rush him to the OR for surgery.
Bobbie goes to the waiting room and finds Luke and Lucky talking.
B: Luke, I think you know what you have to do.
Luke nods his head and pulls out his phone.
Miami, Florida ~ Carly's Beach House:
Meanwhile back in Florida, Carly couldn't shake the feeling that something happened to Jason. The sound of the phone ringing snaps her out of her thoughts, but before the person on the other end can say anything, she says, "How bad is he?"
L: Its time for you to come home Caroline.
C: Is he alive?
L: Just barely, he was shot several times, in the chest and the stomach. He's in surgery now.
C: Oh God...she cries. I'm on my way
L: Pull yourself together darlin. He is going to need your strength. I will have Lucky meet you at the airport.
Carly turns to Leticia who just got in. "Were going back to Port Charles."
Port Charles Airport hours later:
Carly, Leticia and Michael make their way off the plane and enter the airport. Carly immediately spots Lucky waiting for her. She runs into his arms thankful to see him. After awhile she pulls back looking at the sadness in his eyes.
C: Talk to me Lucky...
L: He's real bad Carly. He made it out of surgery, but he slipped into a coma. Bobbie is with him; she won't leave him till you get there.
C: How did this happen?
L: The three of us were coming out of the police station and 3 men just opened fire on us. Jason saw them and warned us. He saved my life Carly; he jumped in front of me. The tears stung her eyes as she stared at him.
C: You said the three of us?
L: Sonny didn't make it. Come on lets get you to the hospital
Carly turns to Leticia who is holding Michael. C: We will drop you off at the brownstone.
General Hospital Waiting Room:
Carly and Lucky make their way to GH when the see Luke in the waiting room. Carly runs up to her uncle, "Where is he?"
L: Barbara Jean is with him; let me take you to his room.
They make their way to his room and Carly stops outside the door. She freezes, she is scared at what she is going to find on the other side of the door.
Luke sees her hesitation and squeezes her hand. "You're a Spencer Caroline and that boy needs your strength. Pull it together and fight for him.
C: You're right, I can do this, he needs me. She pushes down her fear, and enters his room. Her knees go weak when she sees him hooked up to so many machines, and the tube that is helping him breath.
B: Honey, it's alright. He's going to be fine. She leans against Bobbie to help from falling to her knees. Bobbie helps her over to a chair, and kneels in front of her.
C: God mama there are so many machines. Is he in pain?
B: No Carly, the doctor's gave him some medication, he can't feel a thing. But when he wakes up, then that's another story (she jokes, trying to lighten the mood) Carly he is in a coma right now. It is normal after the trauma he has suffered. This is his body's way of resting and healing. Carly where's Michael did he come with you?
C: He's at the brownstone with Leticia. I didn't want him here.
B: Alright, I'm going to go check on them, and then Ill be back later.
C: Don't leave me alone mama. I don't know what to do.
B: I think you do baby. Talk to him, with your heart, he will hear you.
Bobbie leaves and suddenly Carly feels the darkness of the room surround her. She gets up and slowly makes her way over to the chair by his bedside. She sits down and looks at him. She notices the bandages on his chest and stomach and the cut above his eye. She slowly reaches out and runs her fingers over his cheek. She can't fight the tears anymore as they begin to fall. It had been three years since she had seen him. He had a few new lines on his face but he was the same Jase, her Jase. She had been the one to leave but she never forgot him and she never stopped loving him.
C: Jase, I'm here.
She drops her head into her hands and begins to sob. "God what have I done? Why didn't I stay and fight for us, if I did maybe this would have never happened."
Jason can hear her crying and can feel her presence. He tries to open his eyes but a force is pulling him away from her.
C: I know it has been three years Jason, but you never left my heart. I made a lot of mistakes, but my biggest one was leaving that day and not staying to fight for us. I will regret that forever. She picks her head up and takes his hand in hers.
C: I love you Jason Morgan and I need you. Michael needs you, he needs his daddy. So you fight! Fight for us. You can't leave us, not when I have so much to tell you. I need you Jason, always had and I always will.
He heard her say she loved him. He wanted to scream I love you too at the top of his lungs, but something was weighing him down. The light in the distance kept getting brighter and brighter, his curiosity was getting the better of him and he started to walk toward the light.
Carly jumped as the machines started beeping and going crazy. Suddenly a team of nurses and doctors came rushing into the room... and pushed Carly out of the way.
C: What's going on? Please!!
Nurse: You need to give us room. I'm sorry but you have to leave.
C: I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE.
Carly stood and watched as they began working on Jason.
D: Were loosing him, charge the paddles.
The flat line came across the screen on the heart monitor as Carly watched in horror.
D: Charge 200...clear
N: Nothing doctor
D: Charge it to 400...Clear
Suddenly the commotion stops as the doctor looks around the room. He glances at the clock...D: Time of death.
C: NO!! You try again. She grabs the doctor pushing back toward Jason. YOU TRY AGAIN!!!
C: JASON MORGAN DONT YOU LEAVE ME!! I LOVE YOU!!
The doctor shakes his head and tries one more time charging the unit to 600...Clear
Jason hears Carly's scream and pushes away from the light and heads towards Carly's voice.... he needed her.
N: We have a rhythm.
The doctors and nurses look at each other in amazement, as they stabilize him. They go to leave and Carly grabs the doctor's arm.
C: I told you, he wouldn't just leave me.
The doctor pats her hand. "He certainly is a fighter."
He turns to leave and Carly makes her way back over to Jason's side.
C: That's right you are a fighter. I knew you wouldn't leave me. I need you too much. Keep fighting Jase!
A few hours later, Bobbie opens the door to Jason's room. She smiles when she sees her daughter resting her head on his bedside and begins to stir.
B: Hey you, I heard what happened earlier. Are you alright?
C: (smiling) Hi mama, yeah everything is alright. Jason's a fighter.
B: Yeah, I know, he will be up and doing push-ups before you know it. They both smile at that and look at Jason.
B: Honey, there's something I think you need to know.
C: What is it mama.
B: Earlier this morning Jason came by the Brownstone, and we got to talking, (she sighs) honey, Sonny lied to you.
C: What are you talking about?
B: Jason never cheated on you honey. There was never anything going on between him and Elizabeth.
C: What? Do you mean to tell me that these past three years have been all for nothing. (she said, trying to keep her voice down)
B: I'm sorry honey. But you know Sonny, always trying to control the situation. I just thought that you should know. So, when Jason does wake-up, you guys can get pass it.
C: "I can't believe this! (she said angrily) I wish Sonny were still alive, so I can kill him myself." Wanting to change the subject she asked, "How is Michael?"
B: He's fine. Leticia fed him and was getting him ready for his bath when I left. Are you coming home tonight?
C: No, I can't leave him mama. I need to be here with him.
B: "Okay honey." Bobbie reaches for a blanket wrapping it around Carly's shoulders. "Can I get you anything before I leave?"
C: No mama, I'm fine. Thank you, for everything.
Carly looks at Jason, who has a peaceful expression on his face. C: Where are you Jase?
C: I can't do this by myself, you need to fight baby. Fight for us. Mama told me about what Sonny did. I can't believe I listened to his lies. I am so sorry.
Her eyes well up again and she looks upwards to keep them from falling. C: Oh God, please bring him back to me.
Carly picks up his hand and hold it against her face. C: Ya know Morgan, if I remember correctly, you still owe me half a dance, and so you best wake up and fulfill your debt. Plus I have been practicing and I know I could finally beat your ass in pool, so you have to come back to me and let me show you how much I've improved. She tries to laugh but the tears just begin to fall uncontrollably again.
C: Oh and Michael, wait till you see Michael he is getting so big. Ya know there are days he gives me a certain look and I swear its you. He misses you Jase. We both need you so much, were your family Jase. You hear me, your family needs you.
Jason can hear her voice and he feels her tears wetting his hand. He wants to tell her its okay, and to hold her. He tries with all he has in him to move his hand.
Carly runs her hand through his hair and toys with it: C: Come on baby, I know you can hear me. Wake up so I can see your beautiful blue eyes.
Suddenly Carly feels Jason squeeze her hand.
C: Jase?
