Background:
After seeing Jason and Liz dancing at Kelly's, Carly goes to Sonny to find out what was going on between the two. Being his normal obnoxious self, Sonny feeds into Carly's insecurities and tells her that Jason and Liz have something going on.
Carly feels alone and scared and can't stand the thought of watching the man she loves love someone else. She decides that it's time to leave Port Charles. With Luke's help, Carly, Michael, and Leticia successfully leave Port Charles and head to Miami, Florida.
They begin their new lives living under the alias of Ruby and Michael Lorenzo. Carly gets a great job as the purchasing director for Neman Marcus, where she has worked hard and has built a wonderfully successful career for herself. The only people who know Carly's whereabouts are Luke and Bobbie.
Jason has no clue where Carly is at, why she left, nor does he know about the conversation that she had with Sonny that caused her to split town. After a series of failed attempts at leads to Carly's whereabouts, Jason stops his search in hopes that she will return freely to him.
In a bomb planted in her studio, Liz met her untimely death courtesy of Joseph Sorel. After being blackmailed by Luke to give up his rights to Michael, and granting Carly a divorce, AJ leaves Port Charles to start a new life (somewhere far away from Port Charles and the Quartermaines). And after being released from Helena's clutches, Lucky returns to Port Charles and hooks up with Sonny and Jason in an effort to spite Luke.
December 2000Harbor View Towers: Port Charles
Sonny's Penthouse:
S: Jason man, you need to snap out of it. She's gone and not coming back. You need to start concentrating on work. I need you to be focused!
J: Sorry, I know....I just don't understand what happened!
S: What's to understand? Carly is a flake. Who knows why she does what she does. You should just be thankful she is out of your life. She would have ruined you.
J: You know what Sonny, let's not discuss Carly because you never gave her a chance in the first place, so, it's hard for you to understand what I'm feeling. Let's just get back to business!
S: Don't tell me you've fallen in love with her man?
J: I do love her and I will find her someday. Now you want to concentrate on business lets do that. Fill me in on what's going on.
S: Jase, you can't be in love with Carly. Come on - she's a tramp, she'll only ruin your life. Just think about it before you start searching for her!
J: Sonny, I said I don't want to discuss Carly with you, you don't know her like I do, and you never will. Just drop it! And tell me what the hell is going on!
S: Okay man I will back off. I just don't want to see you get hurt anymore.
J: Is Lucky coming or what?
S: Yeah he'll be here shortly. We need to decide what to we are going do about Sorel. He's starting to become a real problem.
J: Okay, what do we know....we know that Sorel is getting too greedy for his own good and he wants to start pushing drugs into our port.
S: Yeah, and it's going to be a cold day in hell before I allow drugs running through my territory.... you know how I feel about drugs, Jason!
J: Yeah, so what do you suggest we do to neutralize Sorel?
S: I think we need to start taking out his men one by one, and then we take him out when he is vulnerable.
J: Okay you want Lucky and I to start on that tonight?
At that, Lucky enters the penthouse.
L: What are we starting on tonight?
S: Sending a message to Sorel!
J: He needs to understand where we stand and that we aren't going to take any of his shit any longer.
L: Count me in, that bastard needs to be taken out.
S: Hold on, first we want him vulnerable and scared.
L: Are you kidding me, why can't we just take him out now and get it over with?
J: Because that would be too simple, Lucky! We want Sorel sweating!
L: Okay so what's the plan?
S: Well, we should start by taking out his top dog! That way, Sorel knows we mean business.
J: Yeah, without his number one guy, Sorel is a headless chicken. He won't know where to go, which leaves him very vulnerable.
S: Lucky, tonight I want you and Johnny to do a little investigating. Follow Sorel's right hand. See where he goes and see if you can get into their offices. We need all the information we can get. I want to know where the drugs are coming from.
L: No problem.
S: Lucky, no mistakes...be careful!
L: Don't worry man; I'll be in and out of there like the wind.
S: Jason, see if you can find out when their next shipment is coming in. I want to stop it if we can. With no product to sell Sorel will be mad and get sloppy. Once he does, we move in for the kill.
J: Sounds like a good idea. I'll get right to it.
S: Good, I want this situation over and done with before Christmas, is that clear!
J & L: No problem.
S: Now, get out of here and get to work!
Jason and Lucky exit the penthouse. Jason pulls out his cell phone.
J: Johnny meet Lucky and I down in the garage in 5 minutes.
They enter the elevator. Jason turns to Lucky.
J: So have you talked to your dad yet? I know he helped Carly get out of town. He won't tell me a thing though.
L: Wait a minute; I thought you stopped your search for Carly? Come on Jase, it's been almost a year now since she left and I would love to help you man but you know my dad and I are not exactly close right now.
J: Yeah, I did stop the search after getting all those false leads. And I know she's been gone almost a year now, Lucky. But, God wherever she's at, she's unprotected, I need to find her. You gotta try your old man again! And I still don't know why she ran in the first place.
L: Alright, I will try to talk to him again. I don't see him telling me anything though. He is stubborn and if he made a promise to Carly.... well then forget about it.
J: I know all to well how stubborn you SPENCERS are. I lived with Carly remember.
J: Just do what you can.
L: I'll see what I can find out, but I can't promise you anything...God, do I get a bonus for this? (he joked)
J: Don't worry Lucky, just help me out with this and you won't regret it!
Miami, Florida...Neman Marcus - Executive Office (Ruby Lorenzo is Carly's alias)
R: Okay, I have an opening in about a half hour, can you make it.... Good...Okay.... I'll see you then...(she hangs the phone and yells out to her secretary) "LOLA"!
L: Yes, Ms. Lorenzo.
R: My neighbor is coming to see me in about a half an hour, please let me know when he gets here.
L: Yes, Ms. Lorenzo.
R: And Lola, I know you're new here, but would you please stop calling me Ms. Lorenzo, my name is Ruby!
L: Sorry, yes Ruby!
R: Good, now get back to work! (she joked)
Half and hour later....
Lola comes rushing into Ruby's office...
L: Ruby, oh my god, your neighbor is here!
R: Yes, well show him in.
L: Did you know that you're neighbor is the Rock.... you know...the WWF superstar, the people's champ, the great one...the...
Before she finishes, Ruby interrupts...
R: Yes, Lola, but I don't see him like that, I just see him as my neighbor, a good friend, who likes to play with my son!
Ruby gets up and pushes Lola out of the way, hoping Dwayne wouldn't notice the drool forming around her secretary's mouth.
D: Thanks for finding time to help me Ruby.
R: Are you kidding I always have time for my best customer. Come on in and have a seat.
Ruby pushes Lola out the door.
R: Lola close your mouth and wipe the drool away. Please pull yourself together and get us some iced coffee please.
She closes the door to her office in Lola's face and turns her attention to Dwayne.
R: Sorry about that Lola is new. So what is this emergency you mentioned?
D: Well I have this photo shoot tomorrow and I need your expertise in picking out a few outfits.
R: A photo shoot, huh.... Well, let's see what we have new in stock. So, what did you have in mind?
D: Well I really like that outfit you picked out for me to wear on the show the other night. Something along the same lines. Silk would be great.
R: Silk, huh....Don't you ever get tired of silk? That's all you seem to be wearing these days......but, hell, you'll look good in anything (she laughs)
D: Well, you know I only want to look good for you!
R: (she narrows her eyes) Sure, that's what they all say. Anyways, we got these really great new leather pants in from Italy. I think they'll look great on you. Let's go see what you think of them.
They walk out into the show room.
D: Whoa...whoa....you want the Rock to wear leather pants.....the Rock doesn't do leather!
R: Not even for me? Cause I love a man in leather.
D: Well, in that case, only if you go out with the Rock, then he'll think about the leather!
R: Why don't you try the pants on first and then we can talk about a date later. Trust me you will look great in them.
D: Honey, the Rock doesn't trust anyone.
R: Lucky thing the Rock isn't here, its just Dwayne Johnson and me...so cut with the cuteness and try these on!
An hour later at Neman Marcus Main Showroom:
R: See I told you the leather pants would look incredible on you. And see, we still stayed with a silk shirt. You are going to blow those photographers away tomorrow.
D: Well, I should hope so! I only come to the best when it comes to my clothes, thanks Ruby!
R: Your welcome, what are friends for? Anyways, I love being able to say I help dress "THE ROCK".
D: So do you and Michael have plans for Christmas?
R: Not really, just going to stay home cook a nice dinner and call my mom! Other than that, no! How about you, anything special?
D: No, I actually have a few days off. So I am looking forward to being able to relax. How about we get together and spend Christmas together. I would love to see Michael and that way we don't have to be alone for the holidays.
R: That sounds nice. I'm sure Michael won't mind spending some time with someone other than Leticia or me. Besides, he loves when you do all those weird faces, and that eyebrow thingy...(she laughs)
D: Okay so I will call you when I get back off the road. We will be in Michigan for a few days but I will be back on the 23rd.
R: Alright, that sounds good. I'll talk to you then...And good luck with your photo shoot.
