1. Casino.

1. Casino.

I saw this film recently.  Its an old movie (Robert De Nero was young!).  Mortin Scorcese directed. Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone were  co-starrers.  It was all about Mafia, Las Vegas and Casinos of 1947.  Finally it ends with comments like 'nowadays things have changed..Not only big people with big money.. even ordinary people come there to play..'

I haven't been to a Casino so far.  But this movie intrigues you to be there; the money; the seduction and the fancy;  As a fact it deals about mafia handlings and politicians and the officials like other mafia movies.  It just portrays clearly.  Its a story about a man (Robert De Nero) who came to Las Vegas as an ordinary man; finally turns out to be a Casino boss.

Best things are the actors and the script and the director.  Robert De Nero and Joe Pesci form a successful partnership in acting (like the similar characterisation in 'Good Fellas' which too was an mafia story).  Even the narrative style of the script (characters narrating at the background) is similar to Good Fellas.  Something is there in this kind of narration because it goes powerfully.  It builds up a scary effect and powerfullness on mafia.  Lot of 'fucks','cokes' and so on.  But when you come out of the theatre you don't hate mafia.  May be at the bottom you may like those thrills too.  The thing that surprised me was at the end the narrator will say..'everything is changed now (i.e. now).'; I believe it should be 'everything is sophisticated now..'  Sophisticated crimes..sophisticated cheating..sophisticated sex..sophisticated Casinos..sophisticated Las Vegas..but sophisticated people?..Na..

You should not miss this movie. (02 Dec 2002).
