THE PRA GROUP PHILOSOPHY
SPECIFICS OF A HELPING RELATIONSHIP
Any attempt to interact productively in a professional relationship should be within the specifics of a clearly and concisely described approach. These specifics, at the least, must touch on three particular areas of information exchange. These areas are the rights, responsibilities, and beliefs of each person which the interactions must respect. The PRA GROUP wants to establish these at the onset of any efforts to contribute to any helpful process.
Rights of the participants include:
Responsibilities of the participants include a willingness to:
Beliefs guiding the helping relationship:
Within this framework, more productive effort can be directed to the tasks at hand that warrant attention and efforts can focus on current needs. When all parties in the helping relationship stay continually aware of the elements affecting them, the end result will be much better for all involved. The participants get three things: useful information at hand, more productive mental and emotional processes, and effective self-chosen behavioral change. The helping person gets the satisfaction of knowing what has been provided was successful through the demonstrated willingness and change by the participant(s).
