BME Intranet goes 'LIVE' on 7 May 2004 officially. CO DSP Dominic John Baptist had given his opening address for the intranet.

Dear readers,
It is a with great honour and pride for me to announce that BME NPC launched its first ever intranet website on 7 May 2004! The launch of this new BME NPC website is another milestone towards fostering a learning and communicative culture among our NPCOs. It also further augments the already strong sense of identity among our officers.

The BME NPC website was created to inform readers, who are mainly our NPCOs, of the news and upcoming events in the NPC. It is tailored very much towards the requirements of our officers. Besides finding apart from news, readers can also source the site for sample Crime Reports, Investigation Reports, various types of proforma and letters. There will also be some light-hearted articles where officers share their experiences both in personal and work life situations. One can also look up to the website to find out the birthday boys or girls of the month as well as other special announcements and good news pertaining to our officers.

Nearing the end of FY 2003, I told my management team, which includes the Team Leaders and Deputy Team Leaders, that in FY 2004, one of my main objectives for BME NPC is that our officers are able to receive ample training in handling their job. FY2004 will see training being one of the key areas for development in BME NPC. This website has thus come in aptly and timely to provide provides one of the main the necessary platform to achieve this.

I must pay tribute to the working group who had put in tremendous effort in such a short span of time to create this website. This website would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication put in by the working committee. Sgt Pang Zhiwei of Team B leads the working group, which comprises 2 other officers namely, comprising Sgt Ang Han Kok from Team D and Sgt Shahril from Team C. They will be continuing continue to maintain the website, as long as it is online, to ensure that our officers receive up-to-date information and news. I must also thank Insp Kok Mun Loong and Insp Ng Wan Ying, who oversaw the success of this project. An editorial team will soon be formed, comprising one officer from each patrol team, to assist in writing reports and news pertaining to their teams relating to the functions and activities of each team.

I am excited to launch this website and I am sure everyone in BME NPC is. I look forward to seeing more creative initiatives by our officers to enhance the learning culture of BME NPC. In the meantime, enjoy surfing.
