Political Prisoners of War Coalition (PPWC)

When I started this website, I wrote:

The PPWC was founded some years back by US prisoner Ali Khalid Abdullah, currently in jail in Michigan after taking direct action against a drug dealer. I've been writing to Ali, who politically aligns himself with the New Afrikan movement and anarchism, for some time now. Ali is a brave man who doesn't take things lying down, and has suffered harassment from the Michigan Department of Corrections for his stance. As I build up this page you should get an idea of what he's been up to, what he has to say on a whole range of issues, other groups that he has worked with, other prisoners aligned with or affiliated with the PPWC and so on.

Now, however, a different set of pesonal circumstances applies for me. For this project to mean more than just a website the input of others is needed. Please read what I have written below.

PPWC in the UK

At present, the only presence of PPWC in the UK is me, and personal circumstances currently dictate that I can't do much more than maintain a fairly minimal website. This is unlikely to change in the near future, so if there is anyone out there interested in developing PPWC as a resource, or who is already working through a similar organisation who would like to explore working with PPWC elsewhere, please get in touch with me at [email protected] .

I am also interested in working with British groups in building up more on-line resources in the field of prisoner support. The old ABC guides (still pretty much current as far as I know - though please update me if you think they are not) are already on the ppwc_uk site. What I had in mind was the sort of intelligence about certain jails etc that some people would know, and others could benefit from. At a basic level this could be something as simple as which prisons allow you to send in stamps, and which force prisoners to buy from the company store. If you are interested in working on such a project, please get in touch.
