This week I received a letter dated September 19th 2001 from Michigan prisoner Ali Khalid Abdullah. He writes:
These are hard, hard times for me right now since the attack was waged on Amerikkka September 1lth. On September 16th MDOC employee Sergeant A. Smith came to me and interrogated me based on some allegation that .... i was calling myself by some,... " infamous name", but he refused to tell me what name it is he is talking about or who had given him this unfounded information.
Ali's attempts to follow this up have been met with nothing, and he is concerned that the authorities may be trying to target him. The Assistant Deputy Warden told his mother that the "matter was over", but Ali says:
as far as i am concerned, is it not over. It isn't over because for one, i was interrogated and not told anything about what i was suppose to have done, and two, because i have done nothing wrong and this white Sergeant came to me in a disrespectful manner, interrogating and trying to intimidate with his words and making reference to my being taken to the hole. No! This matter is not over as far as i am concerned because this man has not been dealt with and this is just one more racist action they'll get away with.
His cell was also shaken down, and he is pursuing enquiries with locally based supporters. However, in the atmosphere prevailing in America, he's keen that this story gets out, just in case.
