The Old Girl
The Old Girl
A 1979 Cabover Peterbilt with a full blown 425 Cummins motor in her dogbox that helped her be able to run in the 3 digit speeds and pull hills and mountains with the Big Dogs and her 13 speed Eaton Fuller trannsmission and 4:11 gears in her rear didn't hurt either! She served us well until July of 1993.
In July of 1993 The Old Girl made her final run. We were headed home on northbound Rt 219 in New York when an electrical fire broke out in the dash and quickly caught the carpeting on the dogbox on fire. Now, if any of you have ever run the 219 you know, it's a 2 lane with hardly no shoulder until you get almost to the beginning of the 219 Expressway in Springville New York. Plunger drove about 5 miles  to a safe pull-off while I tried desperately to put the fire out. As you can see, my efforts were unsucessful. The old Girl was declared totalled but her frame and motor were hardly scorched. So, part of her lives on today!!
