| Buying a Rabbit | ||||
| Like any animal a rabbit is a commitment, because of them being domisticated you must be willing to care and protect this animal throughout its life. You must concider the time and money commitment. If you decide you can handle and are willing to accept this responsibility then you are ready for a treat. You need to consider what you are doing with this animal, show, pet, wool, or meat production. Thier are 45 breeds in the ARBA and each one is breed for various needs and personalities. I recomend visiting the ARBA web site at www.arba.net to view various breeds. Then you need to decide the grooming time you want to contribute. The cleaning time, and the amount of space you have available. If you are looking for a pet/show animal talk to local breeders thier are many animals with great personalities. Such as Jersey Woolies (more grooming), English Spots, Dutch, Holland Lops, Fuzzy Lops (additional grooming) and Himis. Meat Breeds: New Zealands, Satins, Californias Wool Breeds: Angoras, French, English, Satin, Giant. These breeds require extra grooming, but do not be intimidated, it is not as much as one may think! Please talk to the breeder, do your research, owning and caring for another life is not something that should be a spur of the moment decision. Have everything set up and ready for your new friend, so that you and your new bunny can have a pleasant life together, and learn from one another. |
