The Sign of the Cross
>> In Hawaiian  >>The Sign of the Cross, Explained

Begin the Most Holy Rosary by calling God's blessing upon you: touch your forehead with your right hand when you say 'Father', touch your breastbone when you say 'Son', and touch your left shoulder when you say 'Holy', and touch your right shoulder when you say 'Spirit'.  Then kiss the Crucifix.

Christ by his death on the Cross put God first in His life. That death is made present to us with every crucifix and at every Mass for us to pledge that we, with Christ and the Holy Spirit, Mary's intercession, and the communion of Saints, will put God first in our lives.

Mt. Krizevac, Medjugorje, the Hill of the Cross, at whose summit there is a three ton cement Cross built in 1933 to commemorate the 19th centenary of our Lord’s Passion & Death. Getting to the difficult, near impossible path to the summit is an intimate and prayerful experience praying the Stations of the Cross as you climb. The Stations are marked by beautiful bronze plaques along the pathway.

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit

Amen.

Prayer intentions: You may optionally offer the entire rosary for a single intention, or you may choose to list separate intentions at the beginning of each decade before the "Our Father" prayer:

I offer this Rosary to Jesus through Mary for  ________________.

Quiet your mind, body and soul:

"The Rosary, precisely because it starts with Mary’s own experience, is an exquisitely contemplative prayer. Without this contemplative dimension, it would lose its meaning, as Pope Paul VI clearly pointed out: "Without contemplation, the Rosary is a body without a soul, and its recitation runs the risk of becoming a mechanical repetition of formulas, in violation of the admonition of Christ: "In praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think they will be heard for their many words" (Mt. 6:7). By its nature the recitation of the Rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace, helping the individual to meditate on the mysteries of the Lord’s life as seen through the eyes of her who was closest to the Lord. In this way the unfathomable riches of these mysteries are disclosed." ~ Pope John Paul II
