PPIDNRE WEBSITE LAUNCH
Thursday 17th October 2002 (proposed) Cultural Centre, Charlestown, Nevis.
The Ministry of Physical Planning, Infra-Structural Development, Natural Resources & Environment will be launching its website on Thurdsay 17th October, at the Cultural Centre (proposed venue), Charlestown, Nevis at 2:30 p.m. This will be the first website created for a Ministry of the Nevis Island Administration, and its contents include a wide array of information, reports, forms, documents, links and photographs, on all aspects of the three (3) sections of the Ministry: Physical Planning; Infra-Structural Development; Natural Resources & Environment. The proposed agenda is as follows:
1) Opening Remarks - Chairperson 2) Remarks - Elvin Bailey (Permanent Secretary - PPIDNRE) 3) Remarks - Lester Blackett (Director PPNRE / Website creator) 4) Feature Remarks & Official Launch - Hon. Michael Perkins (Minister PPIDNRE) 5) Website Viewing - Real Time (Live) display of Website contents 6) Vote of Thanks - Ministry official 7) Refreshments (During refreshments, person can browse the website on several computers, set-up for the occasion) A warm invitation is extended to the general public to witness this unique occasion.

GIS PRESENTATION

Wednesday 2nd October 2002 Credit Union Building, Charlestown, Nevis. The Department of Physical Planning, Natural Resources & Environment will be hosting a GIS Presentation on Wednesday 2nd October, at the Nevis Credit Union building (proposed venue), Chapel Street, Charlestown, Nevis, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Topics to be presented includes:
1) Internet/Intranet Presentation To be presented by an "expert" from Nevis, either a member of IT or from the private sector, covering general issues of both 2) Use of the Intranet and Internet for GIS The presentation will demonstrate the use of the Internet and Intranet to access and communicate on GIS matters. The advantages (e.g. access to vast database and information) and possible areas of concern (e.g. security and access issues) will be highlighted, as well as the applicability in the local setting. It is expected that a practical example will be demonstratated, via an Internet linkup and a LCD projector. 3) GIS on the Ground The status of GIS in St. Kitts and Nevis will be presented, with actual examples and demonstration(s) of projects and activities undertaken over the last 2 years. Proposed projects for 2003-2004 will also be indicated. An audience of 20-25 persons is expected, and will include decision makers and technical personnel.
