INDRADHANUSH
Indradhanush is a cultural extravaganza held in Udyogamandal school every year
by the +2 batch of that year .It is an held at the state level and as many as
15 selected schools compete to make possession of the most coveted Indradhanush
trophy.
Indradhanush in Hindi means 'rainbow' .As the name suggests it is a spectrum of
all the colorful events .It is rather a festival than a contest .The main reason
behind the success of Indradhanush is that it is fully organized by the students,
for the students and to the students.
Indradhanush was the brain child of +2 batch of 1993-94.The first Indradhanush
was held on 28th October 1993,which was the silver jubilee year .The Indradhanush
'93 was inaugurated by the Principal of the school DR. C.J. Joseph. Over 17 schools
from all over Kerala took part in the competition. The items for the first Indradhanush
were Street Theater, JAM, Debates, Triple Sundae, Dumb Charades, Mock Interview,
AD BLITZ etc.
The event was the first of it's kind in Kerala and was a real hit .Many other
schools that organize such kind of events now has only drawn inspiration from
its success story.
During these years a lot of changes has been made .Some of them are listed below
1)Street theater and certain other events that did not draw much audience was
avoided.
2)Music and Dance related events were added.
3) Fashion shows were included.
4)The temporary refreshment stall is also run by the students themselves.
5)Trophy for the best cheering team added .This ensured that the teams were lively
throughout the day.
6)Non-stage events like collage and painting was introduced.
