Types of Punishment
Bastinado: a punishment not otherwise described, however the earth translation is a beating, especially with a stick or cudgel. his beating may be specifically to the soles of the feet.

Beheading: this ancient form of execution is seen as an option when the defender is of the same Home Stone; it consists of stripping, beating and beheading the offender and is considered a merciful death.

Boards, Chained on: an ancient modality of execution that involves the person being chained, by collar and shackles, on a parallel upright board. Like the punishment of hanging from an iron collar, the victim may 2 or 3 days to die; these structures are common in the harbor cities near the wharves.

Brand, Penalty: a small 1/4-inch brand that marks a convicted liar, thief, traitor..etc.

Couching Law: any FW who voluntarily "couches" with the slave  of another, maybe taken as a slave herself by the Master of the slave she "couched" with.

Dung Sack: used to contain bosk dung after it has been raked and collected; also employed as a punishment when slave girls are forced to "spend the night in a dung sack."

Exhile, Ritual of: a man being exhiled for whatever reason is publicaly refused bread and salt, and is then ordered to leave by sun down under penalty of death. The exhiled one may not come within 10 pasangs from that day forward.

Frame of Humiliation: a wooden frame in which the condemned person is tied before it is sent adrift in the Vosk river so that he may die of exposure and/or dehydration, if he isn't eaten by tharlarion or other carniverous reptiles.

Garbage Death: the death for a slave, where the slave is bound naked and thrown to canal urts.

Girl Catch: a contest to settle disputes where young women, Free and slave,   are captured by the opposing village within a boundaried area.

Impalement: the impalement of a person on a pole lance or spear with the dying body raised for all to view.

Iron Collars, Hung in: an ancient modality of execution that involves the offenders being chained and suspended by iron collars on posts, taking 2 or 3 days to dies.

Manumission: the documented, legal freeing of a slave.

Slave Box: small, square 3x3x4 iron box with a door having a viewing aperture, a punishment device for slaves.

Staking, Exposure Death by: a death from exposure used for those attempting to escape. As the term implies, a person is staked to the salt crusts, spread-eagled, until the heat of the Tahari kills.

Staking, Sleen death or Punishment by: a form of execution or punishment used when a Master is done with a slave, He may stake her for sleen, by staking legs and arms wide apart between two stakes. The slave is blindfolded and cut on the thigh to draw blood, smearing it across the body to attract the beast.

Tarn Death: each limb of the person is attached by rope or chain to different tarns and the person is flown aloft and torn apart.

Tharlarion, Torn apart by:
a form of execution that involves ropes being tied to the offenders wrists and ankles. Thes ties are attached to 2 tharlarions which are drawn in opposite directions.

Tharlarion, Trampled by: a form of execution where the offender is bound before a tharlarion and trampled to death or maimed.

Use Disipline: a punishment that avows a FM's perogative to sexually use a house-owned slave as disipline. There are examples that state that these rights are goverened by a Code, wherein a girl may not be used  or disiplined without the permission of her Owner.

Wagon, Justice: a form of execution which involves tar and tallow, the contents from a wagons's grease bucket, and fire; a detailed description is not given, but it is noted as evidence of the Goreans' distaste of criminals.
