Shadow 11th of January, 2001
Journal entry in my college English journal:
Describe your best friend.
My best friend is a lot like me. Actually, she is my carbon copy. My best friend is my shadow. The reason I make this statement is because every person Ive called my best friend, has either died or stabbed me in the back. If I make the statement that my best friend is my shadow, I know I cant get hurt by anyone else. My shadow will never stab me in the back, and I know if my shadow dies, its probably a cloudy day. My shadow is always at my side, and apparently I get along with it. If I had to say my best friend were a living object though, it would be my father. He has always been there for me; even when no one else was (or is). If my dad died, Id probably kill myself or go clinically insane. My dad wont be around forever, so that is why I need another male in my life (who will eventually become my husband). My dad is calm and rational when Ive done something wrong, honest and trustworthy, loving, caring, hilarious, serious when the occasion calls for it, and emotionally strong. I want to be just like my father someday, but for now, Ill be like my shadow.
A poem I wrote about three years earlier 7th of May, 1998
Some say Their best friend Is a person. With skin, Full of life, And running free. Well I say, My best friend Is my shadow. She follows me Everywhere, Everywhere I go. My shadow is like me, Deep, dark, mysterious. My only friend Is my shadow On a cloudy day I have no friends. I just sit And ponder. It all depends On the weather today. |
