1. IN GOOD FAITH
A school girl collapses after an asthma attack and it is up to Jack to save her, but her mother does not believe in conventional medicine.
2. OLD HABITS
A smoker is denied a life-saving operation and Beth turns down Jack's marriage proposal.
3. LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR
Jack has a tough time when test results for a friend arrive and he has to deliver the news.
4. ACT OF REMEMBRANCE
Beth's friend, Isabel, falls for Ken Alton when she meets him on a counselling course. They take old Mr Hart out for the day, but are unaware that he needs help when he collapses.
5. ENEMY WITHIN
Beth is brutally assaulted by a patient who discovers that his son is suffering from life-threatening Meningitis.
6. LONG WEEKEND
Jack gets a call from an ex, Karen, who is now suffering from acute schizophrenia. Jack struggles to help her, leaving colleagues puzzled by his absence. Jack is forced to reveal all when Karen finds her way to the Beeches. Kim contracts a rare disease when she takes up horse-riding.
7. CHANCE ENCOUNTER
Beth tries to save the life of a badly injured girl after a car crash in a stolen vehicle. Help fails to arrive and the girl dies, but the incident leads Beth to consider her feelings. She proposes to Jack when he finally finds her on the hillside.
8. LIFE CHANGES
A dance instructor with back problems has to face the fact that she may never dance again, after being diagnosed with Osteoporosis.
9. BRAVE FACE
Will discovers that a fellow GP has Aids and that he has kept the disease hidden from the Medical Authorities. The man asks Will to end his life in an effort to protect his family.
10. ABBY
Jack tries to help a girl addicted to drugs who has been living on the streets.
11. PERFECT LOVE
A suicidal woman who wants an abortion turns to Jack for help when her husband ignores her. Beth feels betrayed when she finds out, as she had not noticed her friends' problems.
12. POWER GAMES
Beth becomes involved in a family power struggle when the Boss of a textile factory suffers a heart attack and his wife takes charge. Her authority is challenged by their son, who also works for the business. This leads to an ill man discharging himself from hospital in order to keep the peace. Also, a handyman keeps turning up at the Beeches with dislocated shoulders.
13. HAPPY EVER AFTER
Alice is bewildered when two police officers turn up to arrest her for non-payment of council tax. A teenager who asks Jack for tranquillisers is in court charged with breaking and entering and the doctors are busy interviewing for the post of Fund Manager at the surgery.
