HORROR ON THE HILLS
Claire and Alex’s weekend break turns into a nightmare…
Former army colleagues Dr Alex Redman and nurse Claire Brightwell are forced to relive the horrors of their time in Kosovo this fortnight. A quiet camping weekend in the Derbyshire countryside turns to disaster when an army helicopter loses control and crashes into a nearby hillside. The lives of the Marines are firmly in their hands, and Alex and Claire snap into action, triggering horrific memories for both of them.
“Alex and Claire both served on Kosovo,” explains Eva Pope, who plays the seductive nurse. “They worked very closely together for a number of years and formed a firm friendship. Claire does have a tendency to destroy other people’s lives and that stems from the massive trauma that she suffered in Kosovo. She blames herself for something that happened while they were out there and that has helped turn her into what she is.”
In just a short time, Claire has proved to be a complex character, and Eva, who also played Corrie’s spiteful barmaid, Tanya Pooley, for two years, says she couldn’t have wished for more from a role.
“Claire is a very strong woman, very confident – or appears to be confident – and very sexy,” says Eva, who is Mum to six-year-old Elise. “Claire and Tanya share similar traits but Claire is far more intelligent, out-going and devil-may-care. People may identify them both as ‘bad girls’ but I don’t. Perhaps because I play them I think I need to find a reason to like them!”
