Clare Shearer Clare (originally from Spain) was married to Dr David Shearer and they had two children, Emma and Tom. Clare suffered irrational behaviour and faced manic depression. Clare was admitted to a psychiatric hospital until her depression was stabalised by medication. When she came out she struggled to find employment, but was eventually offered a job helping people with psychiatric illnesses. Clare also faced another dilemma. She discovered she was pregnant, and as she wanted to go ahead with the pregnancy which meant coming off of her medication, she had to face the prospect of becoming ill again. She gave birth to her baby, William, prematurely in the back of a taxi. Clare began to deteriorate slightly off of the pills and her manic depression was again triggered off when David met up with his first love, Anna Bradshaw. She became obssessed with her, and David unable to handle his wife’s behaviour seeked refuge in Anna. All hope of recovering their crumbling marriage was lost when, David Shearer was knocked down and killed by a motorcycle, leaving Clare with three fatherless children. |
