Arizona Powwows Reviewed
Navajo Nation Fair, Window Rock, AZ, September
This powwow is pretty decent sized but overshadowed by the rodeo events which are more popular. There is Gourd Dancing before each grand entry. Traditional dancers are separated into Northern and Southern. Powwow is free to those who pay to get into the fair. There are special parking passes available for dancers to purchase. Public seating is provided but there's also room to set up your own chairs. The ground turns to muck in the rain, so keep an eye on the weather. With all the other fair events going on around it, food stands and bathrooms can have long lines.
