Powerstroke Intercooler Installation
1986 Buick Grand National
This webpage is dedicated to showing the process of installing a Ford Powerstroke Intercooler into a Turbo Regal.  I am almost finished with this project, and I thought Id share the experience.  As a buddy said to me, "This is not exactly a bolt in intercooler."  However, its not nearly as bad as I thought.  And as you can see from the pictures, it does take some work.  But, I think in the end it will be worth the trouble, and I saved some cash.  What else can you ask for?  Performance, room to grow into, and some extra money in my pocket?  Have a look around and enjoy.
First picture, the intercooler and pipes in the garage.  In the background you can see the new modine radiator from Napa Auto Parts, part number 951.  The intercooler pipes, hoses, and clamps are also from Napa.
This is a picture of the front end of the GN being taken apart.  This was the easy part, it only took about 15 minutes. :)
This picture is where I was kinda lining things up before I busted out the sawzall.  As you can see this intercooler is huge.  My main motive was to install this intercooler with the least amount of cutting as possible.
Well, there is the first cut.  So much for the "least amount of cutting as possible."  It almost killed me to cut holes in the car.  However, if you keep reading, you will see that I am very please with the outcome of this install thus far.  Hopefully when the car is running again, I will be even more pleased.
