Anime-Yes! One of the latest video games from CAPCOM is on its way to America. Power Stone was praised for its original style and concept of one-on-one fighting. The 'Power Stone' added to the originality even more, and the characters were intresting. It is no wonder that those brillant people at Studio Pierrot would help create a most anticipated anime. The audience target is age 10 and up(the best types of anime) which could easily be adjusted to America's Y7 standard with a little fine-tuning.
Animation-As you can see, the animation is top-notch for this anime. The characters look 5 times as good as the video game art. The show sports at least some of the supers from the game, including Fokker's trademark missle attacks. Why Capcom continues to do name-changes for video games I'll never understand.
Adventure-The story of 'Power Stone' is unveiled through a journey. Like most fighting game anime the characters are given a goal. Fokker's goal is to find the Power Stones and become the World's Strongest. Ryome's is to beat every warrior possessing a power stone. Rougue's is to make a buck. Ayame's is trying to find the power stone for her Master, Load. Galuda, Gun Rock, and Wan Tan are along for the ride. Kraken wants to rule the world with the Power Stone, and Jack likes to collect them cause' they're shiny, period.
Morale-Unfortunately, this seems to be lacking. The anime goes into detail on Rouge's profession as a fortune teller. Thus you are forced to watch a demonic act if you watch Rogue. Yes, telling of fortunes is a demonic act, it says so in the Bible. Its your choice as to where you stand on this issue. Are you strong enough to resist this evil act(i.e. you shouldn't be entertained a.k.a. watch acts that displease God, esp. Demonic ones)? In addition, we are introduced to the fact that Power Stone is Japanese and therefore has a Shinto Priest in at least one episode. There's sure to be some push to advertise Shinto beliefs on Americans for whomever is the translator at A.D. Vision. Tenchi handled this problem fine, but I doubt Power Stone will be like Tenchi. Lastly, of course, there is fighting...Duh!
Love-Yes, surprisingly there is love in this. Fokker is basically head-over-heels in love with Rouge. Rouge, is not impressed with this ambitious teen. Ayame seems to be in love with Fokker, although I think the story says she is actually pretending. I know that early on they go on a date, although Fokker wanted to go out with Rouge. I do believe, from what I've seen, that Rouge seems to be fond of Ryome.
Sub-Characters-There are other characters in the anime other than the main characters. For instance, some may recognize "Pride" from 'Power Stone 2'. He's Fokker's father. In addition there is Octo and Pusa(not only is that a stupid pun, but I can a whole bunch of sickos making jokes) the villains, and Aporusu the butler of Fokker.
Mystery-There is something new happening on each episode, and different characters show up to help or hinder Fokker. Fokker struggles with the ability to use his Power Stone, and we're never sure when he'll succeed.
Girls-Rouge and Ayame make up the female division of 'Power Stone', although there may be sub-character girls. Most of the time they are more trouble for Fokker, than they are help. They seem to be in a lot of episodes, which is certainly not a bad thing.
Guys-Mostly, it seems that Fokker and Ryome are the main characters on the male side. Fokker seems to be matching up with Ayame, and Rouge with Ryome. These two do not generally get along until later on it seems.
Team-Like Gundam Wing, this series is not about a team, its about individuals. Fokker is paired up with fractions of the teams, until the end when Valgas becomes such a threat that he must be defeated as a team.
