Trinity Delaney is the daughter of Ashanti Delaney and Richard Cox, a husband of Ashanti's sister Aaliah, which is something her twin sister, Tara, doesn't want her to know. When introduced in the story for the first time she's at the age of 18.
Trinity grew up in the care of her mother and aunt Anna without even knowing the true identity of her father or that she had a sister. It was something her mother had decided to keep from the young girl to ensure Tara's safety.
Trinity had a great childhood in spite of the fact her mother was away a lot. Trinity never asked where she went or what she did, because she felt no need to do so. Even if she had asked, Ashanti would've probably just smiled and changed the subject as she always did when there was something she didn't want to talk about.
All in all, Trinity's life was somewhat great up until she turned 15. Trinity was told her mother had died in a car accident, but for some reason, she could never believe it. After the funeral - although they never found her mother's body - Trinity moved in with Anna. The loss of her mother made Trinity a little intorverted, though she usually hides that by chattering and loud-mouthing.
She's extremely smart when she wants to be, but most of the time she doesn't even want to try. From the outside it seems she's a witty and sarcastic young woman who enjoys life as it is and doesn't want to lose a moment of it, but every now and then people wake up to realize that it's just a protective shell. A wall between her and the world.
Inside she's filled with fears and worries, but rather keeps them to herself. Trinity's biggest fear is to lose some one she loves for that's the kind of pain she never wants to experience again and for that she really goes forward partying and avoids feelings or deep relationships.
Really, her way of living says that you should never let anyone too close to your heart - you'll never know when this person decides you're not worth it and leaves you alone. Everything's complicated in her life - she had no plans for the future anyway, but being a witch and fighting in a third World War was not her first option either. Though in a way being a witch does give her life a whole new meaning, she also wishes that things could go back to how they were. Life was a lot simpler then and you didn't have to worry over getting killed every day.
But as she knows she'll never be safe unless she beats those suckers that are trying to get to her, she has decided to fight with all her power. What makes Trinity so special and important to both good and evil, is the fact she's the hostess of the First Soul, Kyra. When Kyra's in charge of their together shared form, Trinity's physical body goes through a sort of metamorphosis in which her appearance changes. When Kyra's in charge, Trinity becomes a different person and quite literally. Kyra is far more intelligent than her hostess, more violent and crueler too. Whoever dares to question her, will be killed as slowly as possible.
