WESTSIDE AND THE IPA
Are these guys really that strong?, or is there something fishy about there numbers?  First off, these guys squat in the I.P.A. where you dont have to go nearly as low in the squats as some of the other federations, and if you dont believe it, check Chuck V's 1000 pound squat.  Congratulations on a strong deep knee bend Chuck, but that wasn't a squat.  Secondly, they use tons of equipment and a monolift where they dont have to set up, which everyone knows is extremely hard.  But then again, other lifters also use alot of equipment and a monolift, and they aren't putting up as high numbers.  My main question is, how come noone deadlifts even close to what they can squat?  Who cares if you can do a deep knee bend with 1000 pounds if you cant deadlift 700!!! Guess you can't cheat the deadlift.  Also with the bench, very strong guys, but tons of equipment.  Halbert putting up high 600' at a low weight class.  First of all, dont jerk the people around George and say that you weighed only 220 at that meet, i wouldnt doubt 240-250.  Did you weigh in at the same month? Secondly, what can this guy do raw? I strongly doubt if i walk into westside right now, this guy can take 600 pounds in a tee shirt, pause on his chest, and then lift it straight up.  And can he even deadlift 600? you are only as strong as your total....But what do I really dislike about westside? the fact that Louie doesnt shut up about how great his guys are.  Every month in powerlifting usa , there is an article by Louie about how we should listen to weak deadlifters by not deadlifting, and so on....and he always makes a point of showing his lifters accomplishments....well lets see one of Louie' boys actually win something in the W.P.O, then he can talk......I don't even think I.P.A squats should count against other federations, anyone see Crain's 800 pound squat? another half a foot lower and it wouldve counted in the I.P.F.                  Fred O.
