As you run across the battlefield with your sword shining you come across hundreds of men all coming for you, the only way to live is to fight, like a true Dynasty Warrior!
Dynasty Warriors 2 is one of those games that gets you hooked on playing it almost right away. If you dont like it, you must be ill! Its a great game and a huge improvement on the first in the series.
The storyline is similar as in the first Dynasty Warriors. Three warriors are fighting over one ultimate goal, China. You can command 1 of 9 Ultimate Warriors; Xiahou Dun, The fierce one-eyed general, Dian Wei, A man of amazing muscular strength, Xu Zhu, The giant with Herculean Strength, Lu Xu, The young, bright and quick warrior, Sun Shang Xiang, The cool, but deadly only female warrior, Zhou Yu, The handsome commander of the Wu forces, Zhao Yun, the brave, galiant officer of the Shu Kingdom, Guan Yu, The famous general with immense power, and finally, Zhang Fei, The valiant and incredible Shu fighter.
| Wei Kingdom | Wu Kingdom | Shu Kingdom |
| Xiahou Dun | Lu Xu | Zhao Yun |
| Dian Wei | Sun Shang Xiang | Guan Yu |
| Xu Zhu | Zhou Yu | Zhang Fei |
Whatever character, or army, you choose you will always start in the same place with the same distance to go (If you do save the game though when you get a long way you will start from where you saved). As you go through the stage you get different captains of gates and enemy troops come onto you and ask you for a fight. If you defeat the captain then that troop has no leader and looses almost instantly. But its not that easy to defeat the troops, even at the beginning of the game! The first battle you get into, the captain normally has a horse! If you defeat him, you can mount his horse, by pressing X. When your on the horse you are virtually indestructible! The only way the enemy can get you off is to jump through the air and slash you with their weapon.
Overall we rate Dynasty Warriors 2 for the PS2 a huge and whopping 9/10 for its eccentric gameplay, smooth graphics and gripping and terrifying storyline. I urge all of you beat-them-up fanatics or you wimps who need toughening up, to go our and purchase this fine example of what a game should be.
As it will be an experience you will never forget...
